Fan Ornament

Date Submitted: October 02, 2006
Use your fabric scraps to create this fun holiday decoration.
Fan Ornament
Materials:
  • 5 different scraps of holiday fabric
  • 1 package of Jumbo Rick Rack (color to match prints)
  • Scrap of fusible fleece
  • 7 inch length of Ribbon
  • Small gold bell
  • Contrasting thread
Note: Use 1/4 inch seam allowances.

Cut 2 wedges from each scrap of holiday fabric (click pattern file above to print wedge pattern). Sew the fabric wedges together to create two fans. Press seams and fuse fleece to wrong side of one of the fan shapes. Baste center of rickrack along seamline on curved edge of fan piece with the fleece. Sew both fan pieces right sides together, leaving a small opening for turning. Clip curves, turn to right side and sew opening closed. Press. Use contrasting thread to machine quilt down the center of each fan wedge. Tie the ribbon into a bow and sew to the bottom point of fan. Sew bell at center of bow. Use a piece of thread to create a hanging loop at center top of fan.
