| I've never posted my own thread so I hope this is right.
I'm wondering if anyone has tried to kick the diet soda habit. I'm trying...down to a couple glasses a day with no headache. But, I usually drink AT LEAST a two liter a day.
Any ideas to make it easier?? | | | | | Senior Member Level up: 40%, 367 Points needed |

| I don't drink anything carbonated, never have, but trying to quit coffee is difficult too. I tried to substitute it with water or something with less caffine How about some flavored water? or maybe herbal tea? Good Luck! | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to isappb For This Useful Post: | | | Moderator Level up: 30%, 79 Points needed |

| I do drink some flavored water & make brewed tea about every other day. I use a two liter bottle so I can compare to how much I drink. I've heard so much more lately about how bad the carbonated sodas are. I guess one reason is the sodium that it has. I think the tea has cafine in it too cos it helps me get thru the day. I drink a glass in the morning & one at night at present. This morning I had coffee instead. Then went to water then tea. I try to get some green tea in my day too. I've also heard that if I quit, I'd probably lose weight easier which is my main concern now. don't know...maybe I'm getting carried away with the worry about it. ~shrug~ | | | (`'·.¸(`'·.¸ ¸.·'´)¸.·'´) «´¨`·.¸¸.* Debi *.¸¸.·´¨`» (¸.·'´(¸.·'´ `'·.¸)`'·.¸) http://www.flickr.com/photos/31432888@N05/ | | Senior Member Level up: 27%, 162 Points needed |

| I surely will Tashy. My goodness. If I drank regular soda, I'd be worried more about the sugar than anything. I buy the two liter Coke or Pepsi when they're on sale for $1.00 or less. Joe buys them for me a dozen at a time | | | | | Moderator Level up: 41%, 329 Points needed |

| When you put your better half in the hospital for a week for dehydration, you'll get those sugar and caffeine loaded poisons out of your house and never think about them again. Last month, DH started complaining about his stomach hurting. After about 3 days in pain, he finally agreed to go to a Dr. Well, no Dr. would take him as a walk in, so we went to the ER. We find out he had a severe blockage due to his body using all the water from his intestines.... he was really dehydrated. He was drinking a six-pack of soda a day. Plus about 8 cups of coffee thru the night (he's a night-shift worker). And, every now and then he'd down an energy drink... probly about 3 a week. All that sugar and caffeine just dried him up, and caused a severe intestinal blockage (Dr. said he had the equivalent of a 10 pound baby).
So, if you're thirsty in my house, all you will get is water, 2% milk, or mildly sweet tea. We also started drinking a little OJ or other REAL juices, not those juice punch mixes.
We've been soda free for just over a month now, and I really don't miss it. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to knit wit For This Useful Post: | | | Senior Member Level up: 27%, 162 Points needed |

| Wow...I knew it could mess me up, but I didn't think about it that way. I believe I'll try harder now. Especially since I have no medical insurance I drink diet so don't get all the sugar but the rest of the mess in it isn't good either I guess. I have never drank an energy. Thanks for the eye opener. Hopefully your hubby continues to be healthy now | | | | | Moderator Level up: 30%, 79 Points needed |

| Well, ok Tashy...I see you aren't going to be one to quit drinking Dr. Pepper. I think I'm doing good by slowing down. I don't drink anything with sugar, I don't smoke or drink alcohol. This is my vice. But, what knit wit said got my attention. If Joe can deal with me while I get over the headaches. I'll be ok. I bought the migrain excedrin pills which have caffine in them so I figure maybe...just maybe...that will help while I try. Thanks for the encouragement | | | | | Moderator Level up: 30%, 79 Points needed |
