| Yes those Tens units are great for pain control. Sadly lots of insurance companies don't cover them.... As far as the spinal cord stimulator is that one that they implant and you have a control outside that controls the impulses??? When I had my back surgery last year the dr had a "dummy" set up of those. I don't know really how they work but I do know that back pain is horrid so if it helps I'm all for it! Best of luck to ya Kathy!! mgf~ | | | | | Junior Member Level up: 9%, 83 Points needed |

| My sister has the implant. I know that she is still in pain, though the pain is not as severe.
There are different problems though, with everyone, so this may work great for you; don't be discouraged before it is done.
Be sure, once the procedure is done, that you keep up on the charging of the battery, though. I do know that just recently, her battery would NOT charge. She was worried about the battery dying. If it did, the would have to remove the battery, with surgery, and replace it, this is something that is usually done every 10 years and she has only had this for about a year. After calling the person she needed to call - not sure who that is, I just take her to the spine institute for appointments, but do not know much about the ins & outs. I know the basics... no MRI's EVER again, etc....... anyways, he (being the tech.) sent her a new battery by over night mail.
I hope this procedure works wonders for you. Do all that they tell you to do, and I am sure you will see a difference. I know my sister has seen a difference.
Best of luck to you! | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to mom2mny For This Useful Post: | | | Junior Member Level up: 29%, 212 Points needed |

| I have a SCS and have had it since 1991. I think people are confusing the TENS unit with the SCS. The SCS is implanted inside your body. It has been a great relief for me. After 2 back surgeries, I was rear ended by a 16 year old boy who only had his license for 2 weeks. The implant has helped a great deal. It dfoesn't take all the pain away but it does make life better. I have to have the battery changed about every 5 years although the last time they said the battery will last 6 years. It is an outpatient procedure. I hope you have as good of relief as I have had with mine. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to curlymc For This Useful Post: | | |
