| | An Important Health Test |

| This is aimed at ANYONE who:
has cholesterol problems, high blood pressure, is overweight, has diabetes, has anyone in the family with heart disease, tends to be a couch potato BUT
it is important for EVERYONE to read.
There is a noninvasive test that will reveal cardiovascular disease before you start having any problems. That's the good news. The bad news is, it is not covered by most insurance companies; however, the cost is approximate $250 which is cheap compared to what could happen if you have a heart attack. Ask your doctor about it - it's a simple CT scan that takes all of ten minutes.
If you have read my blog in the past couple months, you'll know that the only problems my brother ever had was occasional rapid heart beats. No pain, nothing. He now has 6 stints in 2 angioplasties from two arteries that were clogged over 85%. As a precaution, I had it done and guess what? I see the Cardiologist Wednesday. | | | Women want to be treated as equals, not sequels

| I might need to have that test done. My dad died at 47 with a massive heart attack and my mom has had two valve replacements because of a blood infection. I'm also overweight. Thank you for telling us about it GG.
I've also been having alot of problems lately with back, stomach, and chest pain. The EKG isn't showing anything and they say it's chest wall pain accompanied by acid reflux. All I know is it hurts and I've spent several hours with the dr for him to tell me this.

| Like MStitches, my dad passed away due to a heart attack but I have also lost my mom :( I have more than enough risk factors. Did I mention I have lost 3 brothers-heart attack, aneurysm, heart attack. I'm the youngest of 12, 9 remaining. I've been afraid for years to go the doctor to hear the frightening news. But I know that it is the best thing I can do. I don't want my kids to feel the loneliness that overwhelms you when you lose people you love so much. I made an appointment for a general check up, it's next week... pray for me :) | | | | | Moderator Points: 14,915, Level: 53 | Level up: 54%, 535 Points needed |

| It's called a "Calcium Scoring" test. It's a CT scan that concentrates on your neck and chest. Get it done!
Alysn, a regular checkup won't show any heart or circulatory problems. Request specialized testing if y our doctor doesn't suggest it. | | | | | Moderator Points: 42,443, Level: 90 | Level up: 91%, 357 Points needed |
