Oh boy. This is a good one. I would like to know some ideas as well. Sorry I don't have any suggestions MGF. My only stress reliever is a good cry. I'm the kind of person that lets it all build up inside until I can't take it anymore and then I go in my bedroom and cry up a storm 'til I fall asleep. I think things to death. My mind goes through lots and lots of cenarios, even things that wouldn't ever happen, buy my mind just goes..............

At least once a year my girlfriends and I go to the beach for a few days. We talk, gossip, walk, gamble, shop, etc...... It's a good stress reliever............ Until I get home and there's a sink full of dishes, piles of laundry, general chaos everywhere. Kinda ruins the feeling, but I don't know what else to do.

So, anyway, sorry for not giving you suggestions. I would like to know some ideas for this too

I kinda fall in the same boat with Norene... I'm a crybaby when I get really stressed. Especially when it's really just a hormonal stress, around "that time" of the month.

Next time you take a long hot bubbly bath, take some time to reflect on your life and what's stressing you. Ask yourself exactly how important a particular issue is. Will the world come to an abrupt end if you didn't do __________? Are you upsetting yourself just to keep the rest of the world happy? Will your best friend end a friendship because you couldn't meet her for coffee? What kind of friend would that be?

I'm probably giving minimal case scenarios here, but just trying to give some examples of what stresses the general population. You need to learn that everyone needs time to themselves... and sometimes you have to almost forcefully take it. Tell friends/family that you are gonna be out of town for a day, and just do what you want to do... take a walk in the country, lay around the house... whatever it is that YOU want to do. Chances are pretty good that life will still be there when you get back.

Now, on the other hand, if the stress is related to finances... then some serious budgeting needs to be done. Write down what you absolutely need to live: food, housing and related bills. Alot of financial stress is due to people living right at their means, or above their means (wages). Hubby and I sat down a few years ago and worked up a good budget... and we are living quite comfortably. Granted, our house isn't a fancy 3 story, 8 bedroom mansion, but it's just right for us. We don't drive Jaguars, but our vehicles are paid for, and they get us where we need to go. I guess my point here is this... financial stress is, in my opinion, an unneeded stress and can be taken care of once you decide what you need.

And finally, if your stress is health related... either yours or the health of a loved one... the only suggestion I can think of would be prayer and faith... and lots of it. If a loved one is in a failing health state, make sure you tie up "loose ends". Make sure that loved one knows you love them. Don't let them leave this world with hard feelings, it's just not worth it.

Well, that's my sermon on stress. I may have made it "look" easy to deal with, but it's not. I'm only giving some suggestions. If someone is feeling completely overwhelmed with stress, by all means they should see a doctor. Sometimes just talking about what's bothering you (especially with a total stranger (online friend) who doesn't really know you personally) can help more than you would think.

Hello everyone. I haven't been on this site in a year but it's nice to know someone else has stress ( well actually it's not, but you know what I mean). I have had Crohn's disease for 35 years and it has left me with no ability to withstand even the smallest amount of stress. I know of many things to help stress and I have to use at least one of them daily. Yoga is a great stress reliever, Chamomile tea is good, there is a natural stress reliever found in health food stores called Rescue Remedy made from essence of many flowers ( my naturopathic doctor told me about it and it's great!). Try deep breathing, a relaxing bath with a cup of epsom salts and a few drops of essential lavendar oil, meditation ( it's hard to do, you have to get in a quiet nice place close your eyes and remove all thoughts from your mind). Working on your favorite craft project is good too. Stress I'm dealing with now is my mother is elderly and ill and I'm her care giver, my daughter is in the hospital having an emergency c-section and she lives across the country, I'm trying to get ready to sell my house and it's full of 21 years of living, and I'm tired and my Crohn's is acting up! Oh well, I written way too much so I will sign off for now.

I am a master at stressing. I have been on medication for years. I don't cry, but I still worry and stress. I worry about everything and anything. Working in the garden and scrapbooking does help me relax. The problem is getting to do it.

I know that a better diet and exercise would help a lot. I need to clean out all of the crap in my body. I eat too much stuff that I don't need.

I think I will try some of the suggestions. Thanks!!!

This works for me... I start out my day by writting down five things I am greatful for. Gratitude can literally change the way the world treats you. Consider things such as God's Blessings, wealth, health, friends, opportunities, family, ect. Remember to feel successful and know you are an amazing person. As you contemplate these things the universe will conspire to direct more and more of them to you. So what are you waiting for. Let go of the past. Don't get all stressed about the future. Live in the present.
I also write down any sticken thinkin thoughts and then take that piece of paper and toss it in the trash. This step helps me to just get rid of what is keeping me from enjoying the day. Hope this helps!!

Hi there, it is a fact that people deal with stress in different ways. I was so depressed for about 17 years of my life and on all the medication you can think of..... And this only changed when I made a decision to lead a quality life. The operative phrase is "I made the decision". I stopped all of my medication, I got a divorce and I started doing things for myself. That's when I started crafting. It is a good way of stress release. Another is what I call my quality time. This is when I bath. I would put bubble bath in the water, burn candles and sip on a glass of wine. And NOBODY will interupt my time. Sometimes we (women and especially mothers) forget that we can not do everything, deal with everything and have an answer for everything. Start by doing something for yourself. Hope this helps

As I read thru all of these great ideas I start to think about all of the things that I am grateful for.....
Right now my life is so stress-filled that I often times scares me.
My oldest daughter is putting me thru things I never dreamed she would....I am teetering on the edges sometimes. I am overwhelmed with my kids, my job, things around the house and life in general.
I am gleaning all of the wonderful ideas ya'll have posted and hope to put them to use! Love the one about the wine..:wine:...would gladly trade a bottle of wine for all of the other whining I have been getting around here!!
I also love the one about writing about things you are grateful for.
Thanks for sharing!!!
