Today is National Mammography Day. When was your last mammogram?

Did you know that every 2.5 minutes someone is diagnosed with breast cancer? Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths, and the most common cancer among women.

Mammograms are the most efficient way to detect early signs of breast cancer in women over the age of 40. Mammograms have been shown to lower the chance of dying from breast cancer by 35% in women over the age of 50; studies suggest for women between 40 and 50 they may lower the chance of dying from breast cancer by 25–35%.

I strongly urge you to get your mammogram, it may actually save your life.

~~Breast cancer is the 2nd most common cancer in women~~

Did you know that in 2000 the chances of a woman having breast cancer was 1 in 9?? Now just 5 years later the chances are 1 in 8!

Having a mammogram is one of the best screening ways of checking the breast tissue. The other way is MONTHLY self breast exams!

With Breast Cancer Awareness month coming to a close this is a great time to make sure that all women are knowledgeable about early detection.

Don't think that it can't happen to you, your mother, your grandmother, sister or friend! If you have breast on your chest you are considered "fair game" ~ (men too [img]images/smiley_icons/oh yes.gif[/img])
