Default Poison Ivy and Poison Oak
Old 09-16-2004, 06:29 AM   #1 (permalink)

Does anyone have an absolutely rocking HOMEMADE solution for this crap? It's driving me crazy on my arms, legs, chest, shoulders and now face!

I don't have much of an immune system because of my rheumatoid arthritis meds and have to be very careful because of that - but, this is the thanks I get from one of my peony bushes for trying to keep it weed-free!
My doc gave me Cortane-B and it is helping a little, with emphasis on LITTLE. Ideas????

Thanks,

Sher akaScratch; (at least for now!)

Sher I am sure sorry that you got into that mess. Never been myself but my oldest did when younger and he was a mess with poison oak.

I dont remember what I did for him except benedryl so have no remedies for you. Just hugs and prayers that it leaves shortly.

Oh poor thing, Sher! But, I thought you were the redneck queen and new all these backwood home remedies!

Try taking an oatmeal bath... put about 1/4 cup oatmeal in a stocking/pantyhose foot and let the warm water run over it in the tub.

Or, I've read that orange, lemon, banana peels or watermelon rinds will give relief to the rash. A paste made with Baking Soda helps the itch too.

Well, these are my backwood solutions for any kind of itchies... I most recommend the oatmeal bath. It's great!

Hope I've helped!

Gee, Knit Wit, thanks for your support - I think! I've never heard of the banana peel, orange rind thing. Just so happens I have some bananas here. And I can be hungry! I'll give that one a try since I don't have oatmeal bath.

Meg, thanks for your sweet thoughts and prayers!

Hugs,

Scratch
