Unhappy Someone shoot me...please
Old 10-26-2008, 08:29 PM   #1 (permalink)

Well yesterday I woke up fine, I sat in my chair, I was fine. Thn about 2 hors later I go up real fast like I always do and almost screamed. My back was out. I'v had cronic back pain for 14 years...since I was 11. Bad back run on both sides of the family. My mom's brother Russ has had two back surgries this year on two diffrent disks. G'ma's ruptured a disk, mom's herinated a disk, and me I have a messed up veretbre accoring to the phsyical therpist i saw.

I tired to take a really hot shower to sooth my back last night and when i was trying to massage my lower back, that's where i blew it, i pressed on my spine and pain just shot thru me. It may be that messed up vertbre.

Anyways the pain was so bad today that every time i moved i stopped breathing. So very carefully I drove myself to the er. I was there maybe 1.5 to 2 hours. They gave me a pain killer, a relaxer, and morton. They said i need to see an orthopidic for my back. I have an appt to see my new med doc on weds. So I'll have to call my insurance tommrow and see if i can find an ortho.

Sorry to hear about your back Randi. Been there and don't want to go back. I had surgery a fews years ago. I still have pain, but, not like before. If I stand to long, my legs get numb and I have to sit down. I would say that it is not completely fixed. This I can live with.

Hope you get relief soon. I also have an ice bag in the freezer at all times. I've learned my lesson.

This has been happened about every year to two since 05. I think it's time to see an ortho. The navy don't like sending people outside to speacialist. I need to call and see what ortho my insurance will pay for. Cause the pain feels like it's in my spine.

I feel for you Randi. I have problems with my back too. Get an icepack and see how that feels to your back, I know heat sounds better but the ice will ease the pain better.
Hugs, Paula

Oh my!!!!!!! Back pain is the worst. I've had two surgeries on my lower back & still have trouble now & then. However, everyone is right...use cold on it cos it'll help the swelling of whatever is pinching on the nerve back there. Odd thing about mine was my back didn't hurt, it felt like it was in my hip. Amazing how the pain seems to travel.
Take it easy Randi. Can't concentrate on your reading while in pain
