I have tried 3 times to send off this post...so I hope it goes this time.

I totally agree with you about the high cost of medical insurance and prescriptions drugs. It is sad that your Dr won't give you some of the free samples that they get from the drug reps.

Anyway... about the estrogen replacement, I have heard that wild yam cream works to help....here is a link that you can check out. Take some time to check things out. Then if you find that you are suffering from not having your medication I would recommend that you get back on them....

Hope you find something to help you.

Personally speaking, I was taking estrogen because I had a total hysterectomy. Then I did some research (on the internet, of course) and found out that there is a high instance of breast cancer associated with it. So naturally, I stopped taking it (premarin). At my next doctor's appointment, I let him know that I stopped. He told me that he was going to stop it this time around because of the findings. So, please, please, speak with your doctor about this. I haven't taken anything to replace the estrogen and I feel fine. Except, the high blood pressure........

I've been all the way through menopause since 1999, and haven't taken anything. I do take my daily vitamin and Calcuim.

I had to have a complete hysterectomy a few years back and like most was on premarin. The cost was too much and was told by a few friends to go with herbs. It took me awhile, but I found New Phase (over the counter and reasonably cheap) worked the best. I took this for about 3 years and now I don't need it.

I was on Premarin for years. It was to help my heart. A couple of years ago they quit having me take it, and I am fine. I didn't start anything else. I definitely would stop the meds.

I had a complete hystorectomy in 1999 and did the hrt for about a year. My mom has a history of breast cancer and the cost of hrt got to be too much for me when I lost my health insurance. I did not replace the hrt with anything. There were days that the hot flashes almost did me in and my hubby said I was a TAD grumpy from time to time but all in all, I did ok. Have a very serious discussion with your doctor about this. If he doesnt want to discuss or try to help you, my next suggestion is... find another doctor!
