Hello everyone, My name is Deb. I am 41 years old. I have been issued by my doctor that I need to loss weight. I have a rare lung deffinecy called "alpha 1 antitrypsin deffinecy" I need to keep my weight down, Never had weight issues till 4 yrs ago after my youngest daughter. I am 5'7" I weigh 175 lbs. The doc would like me to try and lose 40 to 45 lbs. I am allergic to fish and seafood so dishes with those are out. Any support from you all will be welcomed.

you are 5'7" and your doctor would like you to weigh 130lbs? While at 175 pounds you do need to lose some I would be inclined to get a second opinion on the amount!
If you have been 130 before and were healthy, then disregard my message, however, when I weighed what the books said I should, I was unwell - that just was just not enough for me! (I looked anorexic)
Have you made a plan of what life changes you plan to make to make this happen?!
I seen the Second opinion doctor.
He said he would like to see me at 145 pounds, nothing lower.
He also told me he set up a excerize chat for me, if i am interested.
He wants me to stick to 1500 calories though.
I went to the Doctors this morning and I lost 3 lbs.
Deb {happy dancing}
I have been just eating Cereal w/ 1 slice of Low carb bread, yogurt for lunch and a healthy dinner.
Doing cardio 2x's a week and walking 3 mornings.
We didn't put it all on in a day or 2 so it takes time to take it off - not much fun but anyhow.
You are doing very good. Keep up the good work. As what everyone has told me, muscle weights more than fat. It's not all about the scale. How do you look. If you looked like a body builder and your weight was 170, well, that's one thing, but if you look like me, oops, get back to exercising, tee hee.
Over time you will notice little subtle changes in the way you look - the way your muscles move in your arms as you brush your teeth for example. You will all of a sudden notice that little things are eaiser - getting in/out of your car, turning the steering wheel around a sharp bend - you will find yourself walking quicker, climbing stairs, etc, all things will suddenly become a little easier to do and that will make sticking to the diet and exercising all the more enjoyable.
I am frustrated!
I have been excerising {I have what you call a potbelly} Mysides are tighter my butt is firmmer{sis says damn looking good in the butt area}but my belly no go.
Can anyone suggest a type of excerise. I was thinking about using one of those balls..help please.
The ball will help. I use 3 machines at the gym, an Ab Bench, a machine that you sit at and lean forward from the waist with weights, and sit on the Back Extension. Also, try holding it in for the count of 10, release and repeat as much as you can stand it. Be sure to measure because you might not notice a loss of 1/4", but any loss is a good loss.
I just saw some one-liners:
Abdicate - give up an ever having a flat stomach.
Remember to "Hold it in" while doing all or most of your exercises - even if they are not ab exercises. It will help - just be patient.
Update...
I lost 5 Lbs !!! I have 9 more to go, but the awesome thing is how I feel. Not sleepy all the time.
I also took 2inches off my waist. I know I will never have a flat tummy but I would like to do my jeans up without lying on the bed.
Ashley comes in and says mom you are getting there and we love you for it. My big girl :D
