Just a little history.. I have been a puggy all my life except for the couple times I got down to my goal weight.
I finally came to the realization that this last expensive weight gain was do to my move up north and taking on the care of my ageing mother (82). I still wouldn't change it for the world, just had to get real with myself and realise I couldn't binge, when I worried about her!!
Since the first on January I have lost 14lbs, I too am talking it slow, I still eat everything, just in moderation!! I stay away from fast food place when I am in the car alone now, I also stay out of the food isle at the $ store, one of my fav snack places to shop in the past.
As most of you know my mother took a fall on Dec 12/08 and broke her hip, she has been in hospital since!! I go into see her almost every day, as right now the weather decides for me!! I don't eat when I go to see her and I try to come right home, unless I go shopping and then I just pick up what is on my list.
Dh is helping me and has also lost a couple lbs too. I make everything fresh, we have gotten away from pre packaged foods.
We eat a hardy Breakfast, and good size lunch and just soup and salad for supper!! I love it cause at the end of the day I was always stressing about what to cook for supper time and this makes it much easier!!
The reason we took on this way of eatting is because we are busiest during the day and can burn our fat off then and our slow time is in the evening from 6 till 10pm as we generaly watch tv!!
So I have a ton to loose, but I am taking it one day at a time and some times one meal and snack at a time. Oh yes if need be, we have popcorn, or fruit in between meals.
Veggies are free, just watch what you put on them, I count fruit free too, with in reason!! I can binge on the good stuff too!!!
14Lb is a very good start!! Keep up the good work & for sharing your story with us. You are a brave person to take on your Mothers care alone, most just stick them in a home & walk away.

You know the saying Patricia! Slow and steady wins the race! You have done the diets and you know from your experience that what we all need is a lifestyle change! I am so happy for you that you are making these wonderful lifestyle changes! (and for me, because I want you as my friends for many, many years to come)

Well I'm pleased to report that I have a total of 16.5 lbs off now!!
Hugs (((Slide)))!!! I want to be around for a very long time so I can bug you!!LOL
Thanks Karen, My mom was pretty independent as an 82 year old, DH and I move up here to retire too and be close to mom. We love it up here in the Great White North, only a couple hours from Toronto, not that far north!!LOL
Till Jan last year mom was doing great, then she took a stroke, she recovered nicely with just a bit of weekness on her right side, but still able to be on her own. My brother purchased her house and he and his wife moved into the basement, but left her to her own to do as she please as usual. After her stroke I took her to all her DR apts. and became her power of attorney for both her health and finances. I went in on all her apts. and helped her with her banking and such, we took her to cards and shopping and bingo and church.
This time though she wont be coming home, Her care is too great for us to handle. She will be going to a home, but in the next town. She will still have me to take her out and about as she is still mentaly all there. I can't see her not wanting to do as she did before, it will just take us longer to prepare each time we do things!!
Anyway can you tell I need to talk about this stuff!!LOL
DH and I weigh ourselves daily!! Yea I know maybe not the greatest idea for some, but it works for us at this time!! I had 5 days of no loss, but I was ok with it as I know I was eating right, then 2.5lbs come off!!
The last weight loss place I went too cost me $400 a month and I did well!! I lose 60lbs in no time, and it took me about a year to put it all back on again!! Ugh!! I was no where near my goal, but happy with the results!!
The time before that I did the hypnosis and it cost me $1,600 and I lost 17lbs!! But I did do very well in school and I think it worked better for my exams, as I would go in and have them do that when I was about to take a test!!LOL I was in the top 4 of the class!!LOL
I have done weight watchers, diet workshop, OA, and have bought countless books on dieting!!
What works for me is just eating the right stuff and the right portions!! I know what I should be eating and when I should be eating it, but I let life get in the way and control my cravings or let them stay out of control!!
I know with just this weight loss I can do so much more!! Like shop!!LOL
I walk farther with out getting all out of breath and hot. My knees have a lot less pain, and I just have more energy!! I'm not in a sugar fog too!!!
We do not eat after 8pm now too!!
Fact: for every 10lbs lost it is 40lbs of pressure off you knees!!
I have been playing a bit with my food and I am not losing as I said before I know what I have to do!!
I Will be happy from now on if I lose 1 to 2 lbs a week from now on!!
I lost so much in the begining because I have a lot to lose and it will come off faster for me. But I also know it will slow down to the above of 1 to 2 lbs a week if I do it right!!
I'm sorry I can look at the other journals right now so everyone keep up the good work and when I get my lap top into the shop and back home again I will be on more!!
Ok so I am still down the 16.5lbs!! I have been fighting up and down with a couple lbs for a couple months!!
I must admit I did have a binge today after the week I have had I guess I felt it was worth it!!Ugh!! I knew after it wasn't but it's funny when you are doing it, it seems just fine!!Ugh!!
I will do better tomorrow!!
DH and I have stuck with our big meals in the morning and lunch and a soup and salad at dinner!! It is less stressful too since most days I get back from the hospital about 5pm.
So I see we have a lot more taking part sorry I can't view them all, but my time on here is limited, so I will say to those that read mine.....
Keep up the good work and know that is you slip tomorrow is a new day!!!
