Default Binge Eating
Old 01-20-2009, 04:29 AM   #1 (permalink)

Are there any other binge eaters here?? I admit I am one & I am having a tough time with changing that fact. Thought it would be nice to have a place to chat with others in the same boat. Maybe share tips on what has worked for us & what has not. A place to have a shoulder when we fall & a pat on the back when we succeed.

First tip: I have changed my binging foods from junk food to fruits & veggies. I keep no junk food in the house, This way if I over eat it is at least healthy calories. LOL

What are your tips & tricks?

Hmmmm.............

I don't think of myself as much of a binge eater. I think I'm more of a grazer. I eat a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. I like variety. I have more of an issue with what time of day it is. I do really well at work. I think that's mostly because I am limited to eating only what I bring to work with me and/or have there in my desk. If I only bring or keep "good for me" foods at work, that's all I can eat. And.... I do better if I don't go OUT for lunch. If I leave the building around lunch time, I'm more apt to go through the drive thru somewhere. If I stay at work, I will only eat my salad or sandwich I have prepared. My "bad" time of day is right after work and just before supper (or while I am fixing supper). The thought of food is in my head and I can smell whatever it is I'm cooking and so I start grazing. Looking in the cupboards, cookie jar, fridge. I can't wait for supper to be ready so I snack. BAD! BAD! BAD! I'm trying to contain myself though. I might have to sneek in a cookie now and then, but I also try to remind myself that the snack stuff is for my son's school lunches. OH! Weekends at home are really bad too! It's like all that good stuff is just calling my name! I have to remove myself and get busy doing something else. This winter weather is really bad for that though. Can't go outside! Too cold. Anyway, good luck! And focus on the "good for you" snacks! Remember, protein is filling and is better as a pick me up than sugar! Cheese, nuts, peanut butter 'n' celery.....
