Default Bartkowski Mom's Weight Loss Journal
Old 01-07-2009, 08:19 PM   #1 (permalink)

Ok, ya'll talked me into it. Here I go............

I'm 40 years old (41 next month). OMG! I can't believe that! It looks so scary in print! I'm 5'8" tall and I weigh about 195 according to my bathroom scale. The Dr. one is always heaver. I really hate that.

I have weighed between 180 and 205 for the last 10 years. Everyone tells me I "carry my weight well" because I'm tall. In other words, you don't REALLY notice that I'm overweight. BUT.... I can really tell when I creep close to 200. Breathing is not as easy, I feel like a slug, and I just don't feel well.

Basically my problem areas are my thighs, butt, boobs, and I'm noticing more flab in the tummy. I would LOVE to wear a 36 B again someday. I've thought about surgery (boob job), but anesthesia and I don't really get along. So, for now, I'm a 40 DD. My sister says that size requires a bowling ball bra. She recently had a boob job reduction and is sooooooo glad she did.

Anyway.... I started back on my treadmill on Monday. I have a few options on it for different workouts. I have done the 25 minute Total Body work out for 2 days now. OMG! The front of my thighs are KILLING ME! That's good... right? My butt today feels a little tender too. That's really good! I don't like to exercise in front of my family - all boys and they have an uncontrollable urge to snicker. Monday and Tuesday no one was home so it was easy to work out. Tonight will be a different story. I just have to tune them out and ignore them.

I was going to do the local "Biggest Loser" contest at our small gym here in town, but I started thinking about it........... I really want to do this on my own to prove to myself I can do it. If I find out I can't, I might do the contest next time.

I like Lori's idea of keeping track of what you eat during the day so I think I will do that too.

Monday: Can't really remember, but I'll try. Early morning snack: banana Breakfast: 1C SpecialK Redberries w/ 1/3 C 2% milk Mid-morning snack: Activia yogurt, 10 mini carrots Lunch: Small salad with 1/4C grilled chicken, sunflower seeds and cheddar cheese sprinkled on top w/ a bit of ranch dressing and a Yoplait yogurt Afternoon snack: 1/2 slice pumpkin pie w/cheesecake topping Supper: Small piece of grilled steak, baked potato w/butter, corn All day: LOTS OF WATER

Tuesday: Early morning snack: banana Breakfast: 1C SpecialK Redberries w/ 1/3C 2% milk Mid morning snack: Activia yogurt, 10 mini carrots Lunch: Small salad w/ 1/4C grilled chicken, sunflower seeds and cheddar cheese sprinkled on top w/ ranch dressing and a Yoplait yogurt Afternoon snack: whole slice of pumpkin pie w/cheesecake topping OMG! 1 funsize snickers bar Supper: 1 small helping each of spaghetti w/ meatsauce (homemade) and greenbeans, end piece of garlic bread loaf. All Day: Lots of water again.

Wednesday: Everything until my afternoon snack is the same except for the carrots. Didn't have any today. Got some sores in my mouth and on my tongue. Thought it was the apples I was eating... stopped eating them.... tongue still sore.... maybe the carrots.... not sure yet... tongue still sore, but it's only been one day. Afternoon snack: 1 funsize snickers bar and 2 bite size snickers bars

We'll see how supper goes tonight. I'll post tomorrow.

Ok, I'll post tonight.

Supper: 1 small meatloaf patty w/ketchup, 1 helping mashed potatoes w/butter, 1 helping (maybe a bit more) creamed corn, 1 small roll w/butter

That's it! Not too bad!

Walked on my treadmill for the 25 minute workout. Adjusted the speeds and incline a bit. Burned 156 calories! Waa Hoo!

It looks to me like you are doing great! Keep up the good work!

Your diet looks well balanced. That with the exercise you are doing should make the difference!

- Small tip... do you have 1% milk where you are? have you ever tired it? Hubby decided to by it and not tell me. I was drinking 1% milk for a month before he told me - I couldn't tell the difference AND it is fewer calories!

Thanks for the encouragement Slide!

I will be buying 1% milk in the future in quarts for me. My boys can't seem to handle it. They like the 2%.

Thursday:

Early morning snack: banana

Coffee w/French Vanilla creame - lasts most of the day

Breakfast: 1C SpecialK Redberries w/ 1/3C 2% milk

Mid morning snack: 2 1" chocolate chip cookies

Lunch: Ground beef tostada w 2Tablespoons sourcream, glass of water (Mexican Restaurant with girlfriends)

Afternoon snack: 2 bite size snickers minis, 1/2 cup coffee w/french vanilla creame

Supper: Leftover spaghetti w/2 slices of white toast & butter, water

Dessert: 1 S'more - home made in the microwave

Watched Tims game - very frustrating so burned some calories there!

Worked out on the treadmill. 25 minute Total body workout again. Burned 160 calories and 20 carbs..... not including the ones burned doing the exercises on the floor between walking sessions.

So far so good! Thanks girls!

Thanks for the good words Tashy!

A food diary helps me. If I write down everything I eat, no matter how small, it really helps me to see exactly how much I eat in a day and how many possible calories I eat in a day. Some days I'm amazed! If I keep track, it helps me to cut back and see that I really don't need to eat that brownie (my downfall) just because it's there.

I think that keeping a food journal can be a great idea! And posting it publicly can REALLY make you think if you need a cookie or doughnut etc.
