I just starting reading this thread today. I wish I had started it earlier. Alli is just bad. The other programs where you buy the food are expensive. You buy your food, but you still have to cook for your family. Cook healthy meals for everyone and everyone will start feeling better - and if they need to knock off a couple of pounds they will also.
My daughter was using those little flavor things for the water - and her hair started getting thin - same with some of her other co-workers.
Like your dietitian (sp) said, eat a good breakfast - with lots of protien, a medium lunch and you won't be so hungry at dinner.
Right now I go to the gym for about 1 1/2 hours in the AM and when I get home I do a Whey protein shake. I am so full, I usually don't eat again until dinner.
You can loose weight just by walking more - park farther away from the front door. If you have stairs in your home, make a couple extra trips.
Keep a record of what extra walking you do and try to increase it.
And MOST OF ALL - diet pills and other fancy "diet" junk are just expensive and don't change your eating habits. Also, D I E T is a 4 letter word! However, good, bad or indifferent, your diet is what you eat on a daily basis. It doesn't mean going hungry or depriving yourself. It just means being smarter about what we stuff into our mouths - um, don't eat the whole bag if chips - my problem - just put a few in a bowl and don't go back for seconds, thirds, etc.
Ugh...So the weight management class has officially ended. I ended up losing a total of 8 pound through out the whole thing. I did learn lots of stuff though. I'm hoping I can keep up with it now that I don't have the weekly check in and weigh ins.
I am also contemplating getting the Wii Active. Hubby says I have more than enough work out equipment at work but I HATE working out in front of all those people. I think I will get the game and have him do it with me.
I wanted to get the WII active, but the price put it off. My gym is only $21.59 per month so I go and have made friends up there and it is also close to home. Considering getting a scooter to save money on gas as it is all back roads.
Well I haven't stepped onto a scale in a while. I'm afraid to. But....my jeans are getting loose! So either I'm losing weight or my jeans are getting old and need to be replaced!
Has anyone tried hypnosis? I got a MP3 on etsy and have listened to it a few times. I have noticed a decrease in what I eat and a HUGE increase in my water intake. I wonder if they are connected. I've tried to stay "awake" while listening to that hypnosis session but I always end up falling asleep and not getting to really hear what she's saying. I always wake up at the end when she's counting to three.
I guess it worked then. You supposedly "hear" things while you are sleeping and can learn stuff that way.
I remember having a computer programming class and I would get stuck on something, would be thinking about it when I went to sleep and wake up knowing how to fix the problem - I would dream about it and remember it when I woke up - nutty isn't it.
Yes, water is very important in losing weight - as a matter of fact I should be drinking more of it myself.
Sorry I haven't been keeping you all up to date here. Life is really busy right now. I have finally gotten on the scale. I am down 13 pounds.
I am still pop free! Except for yesterday. I shared one at the fair. I have this huge water jug I carry around with me. I've gotten used to drinking 1-2 of those jugs a day.
I have started a new walking competition at work. It's a group effort but my group is so competitive that all four of us (me, hubby, BIL & my boss) are all trying for 1st place each week within our group. We are on week two right now. For each 50000 steps our group gets a point. If each group member food journals for at least 3 days each week we get another point. Then there is a weight loss point. I'm not sure how many points we get for that though.
It is a really fun competition! There is supposed to be a big prize at the end of the 12 weeks for the group that has the most points. My guys are so competitive I think we really have a chance to win! My boss is even walking for 15 minutes each hour just to get her step count up!
Well we are in like week 4 or 5 of the walking challenge. My group is so competitive! Not only have we been #1 in the challenge the whole time but that's not good enough for them! We now have an inner group competition. They said the $ bet is going up next week to keep us motivated.
I have gone down from a size 14 to a size 12! I am bouncing between losing 15 & 18 pounds. Those three little pounds keep showing back up. I'll get it though. My goal weight is still 35 pounds away. I'll get there.
