I'm weighing in, but I am not doing well. I now weigh 192.5. I look at some of my friends who are overweight and they seem to accept it, and I wonder, should I just accept it. However, when I first decided to lose weight it was because I weighed 195 and I was having dizzy spells. I lost weight to about 190 and the dizzy spells subsided. I lost to 188, but then I gained and they came back. So I must lose weight. I have a long term goal to lose to 150, but at this point if I could lose 10 and keep them off I would be happy. Well tomorrow is a new day and a new week, so I will try again. God bless you all. Wanda

There are many medical reasons to lose weight. I am a diabetic, have heart problems, my lungs are shot, and my kidneys are starting to give me problems. I know I definitely need to lose weight. I never will accept the fact that I am overweight. I used to be nice and thin. Those were the days. I will keep on trying forever.

I'm with you, Shirley! I cannot accept the fact that I am overweight either. I was slim all my life up until I quit smoking 5 years ago. Since then I have packed on about 40 pounds and it bothers me every single day! I haven't lost any weight recently but I have managed to hold my own through about 10 weeks of company and hope to get back on the "wagon" once everyone leaves. Accepting being overweight will never be an option for me.....I'm to vain, I guess!

Before I had children I was tiny. Before I was twelve, my dad said I ate like a bird. Before I had children it was possible I was close to anorexia. My weight probably didn't come on from having children though. I went just over 200 lbs for a couple years. I lost 20 lbs and have been maintaining between 185-195 for a couple years. I can't seem to stay away from the goodies. I saw a couple triathathon ladies on a program last night. They eat huge chocolate chip cookies to get the calories they need for their competition. They said it was the best of both worlds, being able to compete and being able to have the goodies. Maybe I better start exercising more. LOL.

When it comes to weight loss, you really need to worry about one day at a time. When you try and lose 50 pounds or 100 pounds you really are setting yourself up for failure as that goal is just too huge.

What can you do today towards weight loss? Can you cut down on portions today? Can you skip soda today? Can you not eat bread today? Can you take a short walk today? Just for today what can you do? Forget yesterday and don't even worry about tomorrow. What can you do today?
