Well mine is a very strange story, but here goes......I'm sure this will be very long!!LOL
I met DH when he was seeing my Cousin, who was living with me at the time!!
They got engaged and we were at the apartment one day and joking around and my cousin told me that him and I should be getting married not them!!
Well they got married and after a few months, bought a new house and moved it a few months later. My Cousin went in to hospital to have some teeth removed and never came out!! They were married 1 year and 1 week!!!
I was devistated by her death as we were only 6 months apart in age and on the most part got along great!! Now I had not really got to know G that well. I felt so bad for G as this was his second wife that had passed away!!! My cousin passed away in late October so I told him if he needed any help with his Christmas shopping, to just give me a call and I promissed him we could get it all done in one day, so he wouldn't have to worry about it!!
So one month to the day of the funeral he called and asked me for my help. I was very surprised he had called. I was just getting on with my life and spending more time with my family as you just never know when your number is up!! Her death was a great shock to me!!!!!!!
Anyway we did his shopping in one day. G asked that day if he could take me out to dinner for my help and I said sure!! We got along great that day and had a lot of laughs!!!
That night I gave him and hug and kiss and sent him on his way!!
Well that's when the calls started!! Every day many times a day!! I pretended to my new room mate that he was just a pest and lonely!!LOL But I was falling in love with him!!! We went out a few more times and on Christmas eve of Just 2 months after my cousins death he asked me to marry him!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well I said NO!! I Explained that I was yes falling in love with him, but I thought it was too soon after her death and that he needed some free time. I said I still wish to see you, lets see how it goes and keep it a secret from the family!!!!!
I found out that he only knew his first wife and was married to her 3 months later(she died at the hands of a drunk driver) My Cousin knew him less than 6 months when he asked her to marry him. So I told him to ask me again in 5 years!!!
I knew by New Years Eve that I would marry this man and be happy!!!(I even bought a wedding card for him and kept it a bag in my undies drawer, I gave it to him on our wedding day with the receit in it so he could see when I purchased it!!) I moved in to his place part time in January. My family found out in the spring of that year and I had to fess up!!! My aunt and uncle seemed ok with it, my cousins siblings where not taking it as well!! Everyone else was GREAT with it!! Many already had thoughts of us being together even though they didn't know we were!!
My best friend told me the day of the funeral that I would marry this man, but I just shrugged it off as wierd!!LOL Other people aproached me and said go for it!! One of my uncles sent a message through his daughter, for me to go for it life is too short to turn down a stong love!!
My aunt and uncle come to visit us now!! They love G and are glad he is still part of the family!! My mom adores him and my dad thought he was great too!!
G asked me to marry him on December 25th 2000, 5 years to the day I first said no, and we married May 5th 2001. G and I have been together for 12 years!!
I planned the entire wedding in just 6 months. We were married out side on a Golf course, reception and pictures where all done right there!!
We had 125 guests, all but a few were family, you see I'm the youngest of 6 and G is the oldest of 9, so brothers, stister and thier family accounts for most of our guests!!
I made my dress and the 3 little girls and my attendent, my best friend Janie(another story there, I will explain) I also made matching vests for the 2 ring barrers and thier pillows. My theme was purple. I would have done my own flowers but my good friend Carol wanted to do then as a wedding gift and she was a florist, so I went and purchased all my flowers(Wholesale of course) and she did everything I wanted!!
DH and I had our parents walk each of us down the isle. I was just so happy to still have them with us for our special day!!(My dad had open heart surgery the year before)DH's parents are about 10 years older than mine!!
DH and I paid for everything!!! We had a great party and everyone came up to us and said it was the best wedding they had been to!!!LOL
At the reception to get us to kiss we had 2 wig heads at the front of our table and I had made a tiera and veil and a top hat for the heads so if you wanted us to kiss you had to come up and place these things on your head and the person you where going to kiss to make us kiss!! It was a lot of fun and we were able to eat a hot meal and many where chicken to come up, but the ones that did made it great fun!!!
Our MC was G sister, she is a public speaker and did a fantastic job. She kept people rolling in their sets!!! She knew all the gags!!!
DH and I have been married 7 years and we still laugh every day!!
Janies story...
My best friend Janie is the youngest of 11 children. Her father passed and one brother passed and her mother was gravely ill with cancer, and her mother was so excited about my wedding!! She told me she wouldn't miss it, because she said"I will never see my youngest marry, so I really want to see and enjoy yours!!" Well she died the week prior the wedding, but one her last wishes was for Janie to be there for me on my special day!! I don't know how she did it but she was great!!!! She was great till the day after the wedding!!!! She was to come over and help me with all the wedding gifts and money sorting the next day, but she just couldn't do it!! I understod and told her to let it all out now!!!! I knew she was holding it all in, but she did it for me, now that's a best friend!!! Her mom had bought we a wedding gift and we opened it together a few days later and cried!! It was a door way perch angel. She is so beautiful!! I have her angel in my bedroom on DH's dresser watching over us!!
What's really cool was during the cerimony the minister was talking about those who where not able to be with us, where looking down and watching anyway and an ever so soft breeze came up and took the papers right out of her hands!! Janie and I looked at each other and smiled!!! We knew her mom was right there with us!!! She felt great she said after that and it got her through the rest of the day and evenings fastivities!!
So although my store is sad it is also a very happy one!!!
Janie is still my best friend and DH and I are very happy!! I think I'll keep him!!!LOL

Leah, I loved your 2nd marriage story. I had to do the Walmart ring in my 2nd marriage to my husband, plus it was a bit too tight. My youngest watches our wedding video alot. She thinks it's called the Wedding Date (movie). Since we're separated now, I can only laugh about it.
Patricia, I loved your story too. It put tears in my eyes.
Thanks for sharing!

Joseph and I met in a music chat room on the net. After being married for 28 years and raising 6 children I was alone for the first time in my life. (got married the first time at age 16) I was scared, lost, and so lonley I could barely stand it. I Lived in a very small rural community in northern Minnesota and there was not a lot of nightlife and I did not do bars so I went online every night and played cards (euchre mostly) and to talk to people. I have to say I made some lifelong internet friends and I met some real strange people, lol. One of my online friends invited me to this chat site music room she went to so I said sure, why not. After I was there for a few weeks, a person in the room started directing his chat toward me and we would joke and laugh and talk about music and life. After about 3 or 4 months of this he sent me a private message and we started to talk in the room in public and on the side in private. About 3 months after that he asked if he could call me on the phone. I said I was uncomfortable giving out my phone number. He said well, here is mine, call me collect, I just want to hear your voice. (we had exchanged pictures and he knew that I was no spring chicken barbie doll look alike). Anyway I called him collect and we talked for an hour. He told me to call him the next day so I did. After a couple of weeks of calling collect I felt bad and more comfortable giving my number so I offered to give it to him. He said oh, I have it, I have caller ID so I have always known. (caller id was not an option where I lived so I did not even think about it). I could not believe it, he had my number all that time but never once called it and spent boo coo bucks talking collect to me. I knew I wanted to know him more. So that began the daily phone calls. A few (maybe 3) months later we made plans for him to come to Minnesota to meet. He made reservations at the Shores and I arranged to pick him up at the airport in Duluth. The minute I saw him I knew I was in love with him, he is such a cutie pie. We spent a long weekend having so much fun! He even asked my best friend to join us for a few outings just to help me be comfortable. I was heartsick and devastated when he had to leave. When he got home and called me he said he felt the same way, told me he loved me and asked me to move to Michigan and live with him and his daughter (who was in college). (We had had many conversations about not wanting to get married again) I was so confused, I knew I was in love with him but was this the right thing to do? Leave everyone and everything I knew to move to Michigan with a virtual stranger? He was not a stranger to me at all, I felt connected to him but other people had doubts and for a bit I listened. Then one Monday morning at work I got called up to the front office and there was the most beautiful boquet of roses I had ever seen. (Joe and I had had a conversation a long time ago about the fact that I was married 28 years had 6 kids and never once got flowers.) He sent the flowers to say I love you no matter what you decide I will be here. I got roses every Monday morning at work for the next 9 week before I finally said, ok, I will come and live with you in Michigan. I had knee surgery on Aug. 27, Joe arrived on sept 6, My best friend got married on Sept 8. and on Sept 9, 2001 we were on our way here. Fastr forward to 2004. Joe surprised me and invited my mom and kids to our house in michigan for christmas in 2004 and those that were able to come were witness to the biggest surprise of my life when he asked me to marry him and gave me a beautiful ring. We were married in May of 06. I can not imagine my life without him, he is the love of my life. The wedding was in our back yard and so beautiful! Only about 60 people, family and friends, but the party lasted all night, lol. I went to bed at 2 am and told everyone still there to have fun and lock up when they went home! It was one of the greatest days of my life. My children love and respect him because of the kind, gentle man he is. I get along well with his family and we are sooo incredibly happy. I will post pictures of the wedding in an album after I find the disc they are on, lol. Sorry to be so long winded but that is just me, lol. My only regret is that my dad never got to meet him. My mom loves him, I always tease her that she loves him best! lol.
P.S. Joe still brings me flowers, not every week, he is over that lol, but often!

Dear God,
I didn't think orange went with purple until I saw the sunset you made on Tuesday night. That was really cool.
When I was in the Air Force I was foolish and in 1 year I got engaged to 3 different men. None of those guys ever came back or would set a date. In May of 1983 I met Bob he was a student leader at the dorms on the Base. We were helping to pickup new arrivals to the base. I asked Bob if I could stand behind him, My friend at the time said oh no not another rope, (you see I had dated a lot of student leaders in that last 2 months.). He asked me out for that Friday, But, I already had a date tht weekend so, we agreed to go out the next Friday.
We went out to dinner and then on to more interesting things. The next day I had to catch a plane to another base for a medical board hearing about getting out of the service, so we only had the one night.
Bob tried tracking me down that whole weekend and finally found me on Monday. We talked on the phone on and off for the next 2 days. Tuesday night he asked "What would you say if I asked you to marry me?" "I said 'What would you say if I said yes?'"
I thought this would be just like all the others and never come back for me. But I said to myself if it's meant to be he will come back for me.
Well, he came back. And a week and a half after meeting we got Married in a civil ceremony, Just us and the justice of the peace. We have been married for 25 years and still very happy.
