Thumbs up Dollar Store Favors...
Old 09-02-2008, 03:02 PM   #2 (permalink)

I got these from the dollar store. They came 10 in a package. I just hot glued the tabs at the bottom to make them more secure. Then I added our initial to them that were also bought from the dollar store for 25 cents a pc. I’m going to fill them with M&M’s that have been personalized with our wedding date.

I got married 2 years ago and here are some of the things I did for our wedding. A lot of the supplies came from the dollar store. I wanted something different for our cake. I saw some realy pretty lighted cake stands online for $250.00 but no way. We made these for about $50.00 (I made the cakes so total for wedding cakes was about $60.00)

The candles I got at the $1.00 store and I just added the wording buy using a piece of clear overhead projector sheet and spray gluing it on. I already had the candle sticks so I just put some flowers, sparkles and ribbon on and away we go.

Each person at our reception got a wine glass. We went to the salvation army, good will etc and found them for like .10 to .50 cents each. They did not all match but I liked that aspect. Each couples wine glasses were special, no one else had them. I made the wine glass tags on my computer, laminated them and tied them to the stemware with ribbon. The little potbelly candles I got at Michaels on sale for 50 cents each. The tuxedo boxes for the men are made from black construction paper and the silver ladies boxes are made from wedding gift bags from the dollar store. I got like 5 or 6 from each bag so it cost me like $10.00 add a little flower and ribbon an there you go. I think total cost for boxes (mens and ladies 120 boxes) was $30.00.

My Dad passed away about 8 years before my wedding but I wanted him to walk me down the aisle. I picked out this picture of my dad and I because it is one of my favorites and added it to my bouquet. I loved it, it honored my dad but was not maudlin.

I did my own invitations, response cards, guest book etc, on my computer. I spent $20 on some really pretty paper and about $15 for envelopes and that took care of all of my wedding stationary needs (including programs). We did not do traditional thank you cards, we made a donation to the "Make a Wish Foundation" and they sent us certificates to pass out instead. No hassel and everyone loved the idea of the donation. We spent more on the donation than it would have probably cost us for the thank you cards but I liked that idea much better.

Obviously I think my wedding was lovely but we did it all for way under $1,000.00 including my dress (which I made) and the food. We go married in our back yard and it was beautiful.

sorry this is sooooo long, lol
