| If you used the proper leading blank the Gallery Glass pieces should peel right off. I say 'proper' because there are two kinds of blanks made for Gallery Glass.
The first one is opaque which is the one you want to use when making decals and suncatchers that have to be peeled off such as the ones you are making. It should say 'leading blank' right on it and has a smooth and a rough side and both sides have a bit of texture to them to aid in the piece peeling off. You are supposed to apply the design on the 'smooth' side only.
The second blank is a clear plastic that is used for a base for the paint to make items such as plastic suncatchers and mobiles. You put on your design then cut it out of the plastic. If you used this blank you will never get it off. Gallery Glass when applied in it's wet form to any kind of hard or firm plastic is permanent and is not removable after it has dried.
And in answer to the redi-lead;
It really wasn't created for decal or suncatcher application. Because of the breaks you have between the leading pieces when it is applied, sealing it at those points may not make the piece strong enough to hold together when you peel it off.
Liquid leading cannot be used on a vertical surface when wet and the redi-lead was really created for the projects done vertically on windows to save time where liquid leading can't be used directly. You can give it a try but I personally always use the liquid leading when making decals and suncatchers.
I hope you found this info helpful. |
