| Other than senility, I have no idea why I haven't posted this before. This is a simple trivet that looks good and can be made to match any kitchen decor.
All you need is a flat (aw, they're cheap - get several) ceramic tile, glue, some 3/4" (approximate size, you can vary this) beads, and your imagination. The rest of the materials depends on your imagination or whatever you have around the house. Read on.
Clean the tile of any dirt, grease, fingerprints, etc. Now all you have to do is decorate the tile. You can use paint, wallpaper cutouts, a piece of fabric scrap, a picture from a magazine, a torn decorative napkin - you get the idea. I recently used wallpaper cutouts for mine. Now glue (or paint) your object on the tile. Decoupage over the entire tile. Let it dry - you may want to apply another layer of decoupage after the first dries.
Glue a bead on each of the bottom corners of the tile. You now have a little trivet. I'll post the pictures of the ones I just finished on the Photo Gallery today or tomorrow. |
