| These are so easy, but very eye-catching.
You will need:
dried corn husks and tassels- of course, IOWA corn husks are the best, but any will do, LOL!!
rubberbands
bleach water
wired harvest ribbon
various harvest trims
Soak husks and tassels in strong bleach water over night. Let dry.
Form husks into a large bunch (as you can tell, my directions are very precise!!!) with the pointed end of the husk to the top. Work in a circle to create a "shalk." Bind with rubberband. Insert tassel into the middle so that it sticks up above the husks. You may need to break off the center tassel because it stick up a lot farther than the other tassel parts. Tie ribbon around the rubberband and embellish with trims.
I made a bunch of these for a show and sold out in less than an hour. I have to go cornfield scrounging to get more husks so I can make one for my table. Hey, there are advantages to living in the "Tall Corn State!!" |
