Need Help With Yarn Hair

I am working on doing Raggedy Ann and Andy Lightbulbs...and I want to do Yarn Hair...what do you suggest as far as technique for applying yarn hair to the top of the lightbulb so it looks like Raggedy Ann and Andy hair???? I was thinking of wrapping the yarn around a piece of cardboard say about 3-4 inch wide so may times and then tying it off at top and sliding it off cardboard and placing it over the top (the metal end of the light bulb) so it "drapes over "... do you think this would work ? Or please other suggestions welcome!

I would wrap it around light cardboard then run it through your sewing machine right down the middle twice this with perforate the cardboard so you can bend and tear it right out leaving the hair with a nice part, plus it keeps the yarn all together and its neat and tidy. Hopes this helps.
