Default making a rattle?
Old 04-21-2005, 12:24 AM   #1 (permalink)

I'm making a rattle out of fabric, stuffing and a bell. How do I keep the bell from getting clogged up with the stuffing? I want this to be machine washable too. Any ideas?

I am not so sure I would want to wash something with just an ordinary bell inside. All I can think of doing is to put the bell inside something small that you can snap closed, small plastic object that closes like the plastic things out of a kindersurprise egg. Or one of the prize machines in the lobbies of stores beside the gumball machines. But I think they would be too big. Hope this gives you some ideas though.

Thanks Meg! I was thinking of using an easter egg, but was thinking that it might come apart in the wash. I never thought of those little prize eggs!

You could use some crazy glue or something like that to glue the egg shut that should help you to be able to wash it.

What a wonderful idea using those kindersurprise eggs Meg.

Default I buy mine
Old 05-29-2009, 03:26 AM   #5 (permalink)

I used to make my own rattles but they kept coming apart, I now just buy rattle inserts online. I get mine from Americanfeltandcraft.com and I have been really happy with their service, but I bet lots of other places sell them too.
