St. Patrick's Day Crafts
Crafts for St. Patrick’s Day are easy to come by. There are so many different crafts you can create to celebrate on March 17th. Some things best associated with St. Patrick’s Day would include the color green, shamrocks, leprechauns, rainbows and pots of gold. We’ll break that down into the different crafts for St. Patrick’s Day that you can make with those objects and some you can make with food.

The color green is most associated with St. Patrick’s Day. It represents the earth and nature. It is a popular custom to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day or you will be pinched. Therefore just about anything associated with St. Patrick’s Day is green from shamrocks to the clothes the leprechauns wear: everything has some type of green. Some crafts you can make that include the color green are:

•Green strings of beads, great for parties or to add some green so you don’t get pinched.
•Wreaths with green ribbons and green flowers, carnations are great for this craft project.
•Make green eggs for the kids, or green pudding. They will love the festive idea.

Shamrocks are also widely associated with St. Patrick’s Day and there are many uses for them in any crafts you may want to do for St. Patrick’s Day. You can also incorporate the four leaf clover into these crafts if you like by adding an extra leaf to any of the shamrocks you make. Here are some of the shamrock crafts for St. Patrick’s Day:

•Picture frames with shamrocks painted on them.
•Regular shamrocks hung up anywhere you want. You can add glitter or sequins to liven them up.
•Make shamrock throw pillows. These can be in the shape of a shamrock or you can use shamrock fabric.
•You can make a shamrock man made totally out of shamrocks that are sewn or glued together.
•Shamrock mobile with shamrocks of different sizes and shades of green.
•A mask in the shape of a shamrock for kids. They will love decorating this mask and wearing it around.

•You can also make a cake in the shape of a shamrock with a heart shaped cake pan. Make 3 different cakes, put the tips together and frost them green.

Leprechauns are also closely associated with St. Patrick’s Day. These little men are usually dressed in green and guard the pot of gold you can find at the end of the rainbow. Some leprechaun crafts you can make are:

•Kids can make a leprechaun out of toilet paper rolls that are painted green. Add hands, feet, and face for a cute leprechaun to sit on any shelf or desk.
•You can make just a leprechaun hat for you, your kids, or for party guests.
•Make leprechaun footprints out of green or gold construction paper. Scattered them around for some holiday silliness.
•Leprechaun marionette.

Rainbows and the mysterious pots of gold that accompany them are also widely associated with St. Patrick’s Day. Again, there are many crafts for St. Patrick’s Day that you can make that have to do with these icons of the holiday. Some of these crafts include:

•Rainbow mobile with a leprechaun on one end and a pot of gold on the other.
•Rainbow bookmarks for the avid readers.
•Rainbow in a cup. Layer jell-o in the rainbow colors in a see through cup. This one takes some time but kids’ love it and it is a great addition to any party.
•Make gold coins with construction paper circles. Sprinkle around tables for a festive look.
•Make a pot of gold with gold pom-poms in a flower pot painted black.

Crafts for St. Patrick’s Day can be easy or hard. They can be done ahead of time and some can be done that day. There are so many choices that it should be easy to choose what you want to make for this great holiday.
