| Have any of you seen little hats made from styrofoam cups. Mom showed me one she got as a nutcup at a ladies meeting. The instructions were to preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Set styrofoam cups upside down on a cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes, checking often, until they shrink slightly and the rim looks kind of like a hatbrim. Remove from heat, if you want to adjust the shape do it carefully at this time (may need to use tongs or spoons as hat is hot). Let hat cool then remove from cookie sheet and decorate with tiny silk or ribbon flowers, satin ribbon or lace around hat. It can be laid on its side or upside down to use as a nutcup.
I\'ve not tried making them but it sounds easy enough.
If you want a Leprechaun\'s hat, you could paint the hat green before trimming with the hatband. You could use a felt tip green marker to color it. |
