Post Finally got my sewing machine
Old 05-05-2009, 09:41 PM   #1 (permalink)

My hubby bought me a sewing machine from Joanne fabrics.com. I recieved it the other day.
The model # is: 1507, and it's a Singer. It is very basic for
starter sewers. My problem is: I don't know anything about the
tensions. I don't even know which is for the top of material or for the bottom material.
I know it's not correct, because after I finish sewing, the thread comes right out of the material.
I will except any advise I could get. Please help me, I really want to start making things. STAY HEALTHY, Lori

Didn't it come with a manual? Normally you need a bobbin on top of the machine and one under inside. I have a Husquvarna so don't know exactly how your's works but it sounds like you should add tension on either upper of lower thread.

It did come with a manual but, its all greek to me. I really need a video
where I can see it being done. I was supposed to get one with my machine
but I didn't, so I called customer service and I am waiting for it. I hope it comes soon. Thanks for the advice, I will higher the tension and see if that works. Take care, Lori

I'm really disappointed you don't speak Greek ;)
You might wanna try looking for an online Singer-forum, maybe you can ask your question there

Hi Lori
Hope you got your DVD manual and figured out what the problem is. I myself use a Janome 9000 series and my daughter uses a Brother, so not much help here as I am not familiar with a Singer.
Good luck though. Hope you start enjoying your new machine soon.

Cheers!

Hi birdiecat, Susie,
I didn't get the dvd yet, I think it's coming by horse and buggy.
Last night, my little yorkshire terrier bit me really bad. I was making stir fry and I guess I had the heat turned up too high and my smoke alarm went off. Their ears are very sensitive. I was trying to get to the ceiling fan to turn it on and make it stop, the dog got so nervous he bit me in the leg. So I called the doctor to see if I had a tetnus shot and they told me to come in to get the shot.
Before I called the doctor, I called my neighbor to come over to see it. When I told her, she said get out, that dog wouldn't hurt a flea. He is the friendliest little dog ever. So I quick got all the dogs records to see and yes he was all caught up with his shots. What scared me the most was, I couldn't get it to stop bleeding. It was all purple and what a mess. All my neighbor kept saying was I can't believe Toby bit you. She had me such a wreck, finally I told her to be quiet. (she is my best friend so it didn't bother her.) When I went to get my tetnus shot the doctor asked me what kind of dog was it? I told him it was a little yorkie, he said, he could not believe a yorkie could do that. My daughters and grandsons came over to see the bite. They both said, they can't believe Toby did that. They had to take a picture of it so they could show their hubbies and I also have a daughter that lives in Misery,MO. (thats what I call it, lol. Her and her hubbie get mad when I call it that. They had to send her the picture of the bite also. She called me and said, I cannot belive Toby did that. I am not a drug user at all except perscription drugs, but let me tell you, after hearing everybody, I could have used some heavy duty drugs. The next time something happens, I am keeping it too myself.
I wish the dvd would get here already. I can't begin to tell you how many people I talked to about sending it too me. Everybody says, oh we are sorry, we will mail it right out. My hubby keeps telling me not to give up. The dvd was supposed to come with the machine.
It is 7:00 p.m. and I am so tired, and have such a headache, I think I am going to sleep early.
Talk to you again, Twizzels,,,, Lori

Sorry about your dog bite. That's why they call those little guys ankle biters.

I think the little guys are especially nervous and hyper.

Take good care of that bite.
