Default towel jacket
Old 09-22-2008, 11:04 PM   #1 (permalink)

I am looking for a pattern from way back that took two towels and they were sewed together to make a bed jacket. My grandmother made these but I don't have the pattern or jacket now. Hope someone can help me Deb

My mom used to make those a long long time ago. I remember she used fringed towels and the fringe was on the bottom of the jacket and sleeves. I will see if I can remember to ask next time I talk to her but I doubt if she still has the pattern. She hasn't sewn in years and she doesn't like clutter so is always throwing things away. I don't hold out much hope of her having it or remembering how to do it, but I can try.

Didn't find that one online, but I did find this. It's kind of cute.

Well, I've been looking and haven't found much, but I did find this.....

How To Make a Pareo - Free Sewing Pattern and Instructions for Easy Wrap Zorro Cloak

Maybe you could come up with something from this basic pattern. maybe stitch 2 towels together in the back where it indicates the fabric is supposed to be "folded".

I seem to remember seeing one of those towel jackets in our house when I was a kid too. Don't know if my mom made it or not, but she would probably remember it. She used to sew A LOT when I was little. She made practically all of my clothes. She might even remember how to make one of these jackets. I'll try to remember to ask.
