Default Help with turning fabric right-side out!
Old 10-29-2007, 10:36 AM   #1 (permalink)

I guess I have no patience, but I'm wondering if there is a trick to turning a fabric strip rightside out. The piece that I 'm trying to turn has a 1/4" seam. In making it, I folded fabric in half and stitched the seam only on one end, making it 1/2" wide by 5" long. With the seam on the one side, the opening is only 1/4", though, so I'm having a tough time turning it. I've tried attaching a safety pin to one end and thrusting it back through but can't make any progress. I'm so frustrated. If any one out there has any tips at all, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I have done it using a safety pin. Attach safety pin to a scrap piece of ribbon, put safety pin inside tube. When you get it all the way down carefully open the safety pin and catch some of the material. then pull the ribbon back out this should get you most of the way, then use a dowel rod pencil or chopstick to get it the rest of the way. Hope this helps you.

Thanks. I didn't try it with ribbon. It's worth a shot.
