Default Your Healthcare
Old 10-27-2007, 07:39 PM   #1 (permalink)

I thought I would add this post as a way seniors could let other seniors know what type of supplemental healthcare they have chosen and let each other know if they were happy with it.
I thought this topic might help others who are turning 65 and don't know where to turn.

My husband is on Medicare and chose Security Blue as his supplemental and also took their prescription plan. He is very happy with it.
He had two major surgeries that cost well over $50,000 dollars each and all his expenses were covered.
I will go on Medicare in December and have chosen the same plan.
They have several plans to choose from.

Please share your thoughts ( good or bad) so that we might all help each other

I found out about this just a few days ago from my friends. This is for people who can't afford insurance. It is funded by the government and is through Blue Cross.
It is called Adult Basic. The phone number is 1-800 426 2742. It costs $35 a month. If you miss a payment you are off the insurance. Once you are 65 and on Medicare you go off of this. There is a waiting list. You can call them every so often to see if you have moved up the list. It is excellent coverage.

My friends/neighbors are using Freedom Blue as their supplemental and are very pleased with it.

Who has the SelectBlue plan that you have mentioned? Who is this offered through? I am in need of a supplimental health insurance....my current suppemental health insurance will be canceled as of January 2008.....former employer has so inconveniently deemed it that they will no longer provide health insurance for their retirees. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated......am currently on Medicare plus terminating supplimental insurance

thanks.
