Hello,

I am doing the crafts at this years VBS at my church and I want to find something really nice for our 5th graders to do since this is their last year. I would like it to be a keepsake for them. I searched the Religious Crafts Thread and didn't find what I'm looking for. I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for but I will when I see it. The craft needs to be unisex as we have both females and males. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We made plaster molds of two doves and scripture with a ribbon and had them sand and paint them. They did this craft all week and included Jr Hi. Both male and female liked the craft. This is something I found hanging in their homes as adults years later. We sealed them with clear spray paint once finished to protect them.

Make the molds a week ahead since they need time to dry. Our mold was found at a local craft shop.

How about an autograph book. You could use card stock for the covers (1 piece cut in half for front & back covers) and paint/color them or make/decorate special paper to cover the covers. Use copy paper for other pages. You could bind them together with those fold over brads or bind them with ribbon. Each child could sign the others adding a sentence or 2 about something they learned in vbs or a favorite activity etc. Take a picture of the whole group, make some copies, get some picture corners and add that to the cover or inside. It would be something small they could keep as a memory for years to come. Good luck.

My 5th grader daughter is making some Faith Bracelets like the one pictured for a craft show we're doing next week. I was at a church bazaar last year and was asked by a man if I had any men's bead bracelets, which I didn't. I think these were like the ones he wanted. So I think the faith bracelet can be unisex and very simple to make.

Stepping Stones are always nice and welcome in any garden, and they last forever. A simple aluminum pie pan lined with vaseline for easy removal and shells, glass stones, small river rock for decoration, and a bag of quikrete goes a long way. I'm actually going to do this for our fifth graders at our school at their 'Tea'.

Hugs,
Barb
