Question Question About Rag Quilts
Old 01-09-2009, 11:19 PM   #1 (permalink)

I'm getting ready to make my first rag quilt. I'm using homespun fabric. I have a question about what kind of thread to use. Can I use cotton thread, or would quilters here recommend the heavier quilter's thread?

I appreciate any responses.

When sewing the squares to gether I recommend using regular sewing thread, then use the quilting thread for the quilting part of it, if you are doing any quilting that is I can't remember if those types have quilting or not LOL

Thank you so MUCH!

I have to sandwich each square (thin batting between two squares of homespun) first. Then, I sew them all to make the quilt.

I will do exactly as you recommend. :)
