Default help
Old 02-06-2007, 12:03 AM   #1 (permalink)

I'm finishing emboiderying a quilt top that the squares are the states with state bird and flower. I want to cut it and piece it together with fabric with a design.I don't know how to put it together with the strips in between the squares. Can I piece and quilt each square seperately? Do I quilt the strips seperate? I'd just quilt it on the machine. Want something easy for a beginer.I'm never done this before so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

<font color="purple"><font size="3">Hi Carlene!

What I would do is sew the strips to the cut blocks &amp; sew them all together making a complete quilt top. You can then quilt it, I prefer hand quilting. I hope this helps you some, if not ask more questions.

Hi Carlene - How ironic! I too am making a quilt with all the state flowers (no birds which I would love for you to tell me about). I have a Viking Designer I and let me see your state Colorado is the

Rocky Mountain Columbine and mine is NC is the American Dogwood. I squared up each block &amp; added 1/4&quot; then cut with rotary cutter, made midter lt. material bottom &amp; dark sides like &quot;attic windows&quot;. I am working on the stripping now. Does this help? Let me know your block size. Sew Jean
