Web Ring??

WELL I NEVER REALLY KNEW MUCH ABOUT THEM .IF I WOULD JOIN ONE IT WOULD BE ONE THAT I SEE ADVERTISED ON OTHER CRAFTERS SITES. THEY USUALLY SAY I BELONG TO SO AND SO WEBRING. I NEVER HEARD OF THIS ONE. WHAT DO THEY MEAN BY AN "E COMMERCE" SITE?
