Default A Sad Story
Old 01-28-2009, 04:17 PM   #1 (permalink)

For about 6 weeks this story has been running on tv and in the paper in my town.
A man looking out the window of his business saw a pathetic looking lab puppy. He went over to it and found it had horrendous burns on its body, part of the ear burned off and the other one damaged too. the dog was starving and out in -6 degree weather. he took it in and fed it 2 bowls of cheerios because he didn't have any dog food. The humane society picked it up. it showed the 8 month old puppy on tv with awfull red patches on its skin from being burned and only part of an ear.
The police were looking for the owner and got a break. The dog was owned by a 20 something guy, who said the dogs neckerchief caught on fire and he was drunk and doused it with liquor. I don't believe it. He said he didnt have money for a vet so he dropped it off in town. The dog wandered for 20 days with no food, water and in agony. He was emaciated. It was found miles away on a rural road howling and starving. They don't know how it survived.
If I had my way this guy would be dead. He is an evil human being. Everyday there is a letter about this poor dog. He is currently being fostered out.

Soon, they will be hurting people. They have no conscience.

There were so many letters in our reader forum of the paper. One person said if you can't afford to care for a pet, you shouldn't have one. This man could afford alcohol but not vet care. I have never, ever felt the need to hurt someone but I was so angry, I don't know what I would have done if I had met him face to face. I believe all life is sacred, even the life of animals and would never hurt anyone or anything unless I had to defend my own life.

I hope that your local District Attorney is going to press charges on this person for at a minimum, neglect. He should be charged with animal cruelty.
You may be able to help push the issue with phone calls, etc.
Good luck to you,
Margo
