Default Dogs and the trash can
Old 08-03-2008, 12:24 AM   #1 (permalink)

What is it with dogs and the trash can. Dixie my little girl has gotten her but spanked twice now cause I caught her in the trash yet again. The first was Weds when she got a bone out. My little ones get sick off bones. So they are not aloud any.

Tonight she was looking for bones again. I caught her and she slink over to me knowing she was in trouble. She got her butt spanked and then ran under the bed.

What i am going to do with her I really don't know. I don't like spanking my dogs. I wish I had a spray bottle.

Take a metal coffee-type can and fill it with metal washers or beans, or something to make a loud noise. When you see her in the trash, shake the noisemaker as loud as possible. She'll start getting the point... trash equals loud, scary noise.

It worked for my dog.

My two equate squirt bottles with "oh crap i'm gonna get wet" My babies hate getting wet. They even run when I use my thing to squirt stuff on my glasses. They dogs think I am going to get them with my glasses cleaner. LOL, maybe I just need to go to sally's and get a bottle. Squirt them a few times and they will get the hint.

My Chelsey did this. We ended up getting one of those wooden trash bins that look like a little cupboard but it has a door that comes out in a slant and that's where you put your trash can.

I Had A Friend Whose Dog Got A Chicken Bone And Died Because The Chicken Bone Splinters Easy. It Got Stuck In Her Intestines And Cut Her Insides. Dogs Should Never Have Bones Of Any Kind. I Asked A Vet One Time If My Dog Could Have Bones And He Looked At Me And Said Do You Eat Bones? I Said No And He Said Neither Should He. I Never Forgot That!

we used to give them really hard T-Bones, but they started getting sick off them. So they no longer can have bones period. Dixie was trying to get to a Spare Rib bone.

Use a plastic grocery bag and put all meat, bones, and animal fat in... double bag it if necessary, before tossing in the trash. For the vegetable kitchen scraps (I know, getting off topic, lol)... for the veggies, try vermiculture. Raising worms in a bin under the sink will surely take care of those scraps, and less goes into the landfills.
