| Yesterday I went out on our deck to do some cleaning and found one of the pieces of trim around the deck had been ripped off. Now I am beginning to think big foot is hanging around my yard. This morning at 6 am Rich sees something big moving around the yard and and the sensor light goes on. It was a huge raccoon. We have never had a raccoon here in the 30 plus years I have lived here. Several neighbors said they had seen one traveling the neighborhood. Do they do all this damage? Rich said it was really big and fat. When it got scared it really took off. I guess I will check today for poopy doo. If those big piles are there then I think we have found out the culprit who has been doing all the damage in our yard. | | | | | Senior Member Level up: 13%, 34 Points needed |

| hi annie
glad to here you found the critter who is doing all the duty lol
yes they do make all that kind of mess and worse we live in the country
and this past winter was really cold so we had one comming to eat our
cat food we have for out door cats they are very agressive with other animals it killed three of our out door kittens .. my kids older ones found one of them it was not nice we put a live trap out and caught the thing my brother came out and shot it it was about 15 lbs or bigger
that would explaine why you did not see it during the day they are night time critters
good luck with trying to keep it out of your yard

| Oh yes, they are cute as can be but OUCH they can destroy stuff!! When I cooked at the girl scout camp (in the boonies of northern Wisconsin) we had a couple come through one of the screens (someone forgot to close the window) and destroyed the dining hall/activity center. I had no idea they would go inside but these two brazen little buggers did. Good lord what a mess! They were so nice to be still waiting for us in the morning (they scared the crap out of me I'll tell ya!) , I guess they forgot how they got in, ha ha. We called someone to come and RELOCATE them. Breakfast for 150 people that morning consisted of a quick run to the closest town for milk and cereal etc. and we had to get stuff for lunch too. What a colossal mess!
Hope he/she is gone for good. | | | Money talks but Chocolate sings!!

| Rich saw it in broad daylight walking around the yard. The trim strip it tore off was on the deck. Our deck is carpeted and this was a piece of the baseboard trim that was against the house.I am assuming it was trying to get in. I just don't know why we didn't hear all the noise. I can think of no other reason for it to tear that strip off other then to get into the house. On a couple nights I kept telling Rich it sounded like someone was on the deck. He of course thought I was hallucinating but I wasn't. lol
On another note, my girlfriend lives about a mile from me. She is afraid to go out because a huge black bear was in the neighbors yard drinking nectar from the hummingbird feeder. I told her it probably would run unless it had cubs. She has about 8 deer bedding down in her yard every night by her pine trees. She has skunks, squirrels, a red fox etc. She is scared to death about this bear. | |

| The coon may be pregnant. We live in a subdivision in the city and always have raccoons and oppossums here because there are a lot of huge trees. Some of them are not afraid of humans but you should never approach one. I feel sorry for these animals because their habitat is taken over by us. | | | | | Moderator Points: 27,296, Level: 72 | Level up: 73%, 504 Points needed |

| Last night I made him/her a peanut butter sandwich and left it away from the house. He/she ate it. No damage .They say never feed them near the house because they will associate your house with food. I know. I know, don't feed it ,but the poor thing was starving. | | | | | Junior Member Level up: 11%, 11 Points needed |
