These are my 4 Whippet Girls: from left to right: Athena, Isis, Pandora & Cleopatra.
We got Athena & Cleopatra as pups from breeders - Isis and Pandora came to us as adults needing a home.
Isis is our "miracle puppy" (well, not 'puppy' - she's 7) Last April she was running around the yard as whippets tend to do - and she slipped and fell. Nothing new about that either. But it turned out she injured something in her spine and her rear end was completely paralyzed.
Steroids to help the paralyzation almost killed her 2 days later. Turns out she has congestive heart failure (we didn't know) and steroids + CHF are a deadly combination (fluid build up in heart and lungs)
Here we are in August and Isis is doing GREAT! She's proven the vet wrong (thankfully!) After 3 weeks she finally started to walk/drag again.... now she's running and jumping! Her heart meds keep her feeling good. We don't know how long we have with our Girl... but each day is an extra special one, that's for sure!
