What's Happening With The Raccoons? I Have My Skippy Mouse, A Chipmonk And Some Rabbits Coming Round. The Other Night I Saw A Bunny Digging And She Was Making A Nest In My Neighbors Front Yard. Next Morning It Was Covered Up So She Had Her Babies. I Will Be Keeping An Eye Out On Her.

Good morning Apple, lots of Raccoons still coming. Grace and her six kits who are getting so big are here most nights. We have another Female on her own who we called scruffy at first until I discovered it was she and Al called her Angel. Pretty sorry looking young lady for a while. Half an ear missing and looking so pathetic.

But a good feed every night has turned her into a very pretty lady. She is still very timid but knows our voices.

Maggie started out with 6 kits, seems to have lost 2 and we have not seen her or her kits for a few nights. Another female with only one kit is turning up. Both very nervous. Maggie's kits we had to be very careful around as they were very agressive.

One night when Al was in the hospital I was on the deck with Maggie and her 4 when three of them grabbed my cane and tried to wrestle it off me. My step-daughter was laughing so much she was no help. Little bandits almost got it from me. I called leeann to throw them some peanuts and that made them let me go. It must have looked so funny though.

Got a mama skunk and three babies who are so cute. But they smell soooo bad.


One larger skunk turned his back to Al two nights ago when he was on the deck and he had to make a very quick move to come inside. :eek:

I think that's about as up to date as I can go for now.
Not sure if I can add a pic. will give it a go.

Sounds Like You Are Having A Lot Of Activity. The Skunks Are Around But I Havent Seem Them .they Come When We Are In Bed And Leave Us Little Deposits. We Had A Smelly Night This Week So Someone Was Spraying. Since We Fenced In The Other Side Of The Yard I Have Added More Feeders And Rich Is Taking Left Over Wood Scraps From The Fence And Is Making Me Some Bird Houses For The Winter. Since We Lost Our Big Apple Tree Last Year They Have Been Sleeping In The Eves Of Our Deck, In The Flower Box In The Garage Window Etc. Poor Things Dont Know Where The Tree Went. I Have Some Regulars Who Find Places To Sleep On The Deck Etc. So I Thought I Would Add Some Houses To Keep Them Warm. I Have This One Field Mouse Who Hangs Around And He Is So Cute. Yes Its A He.... Hes Afraid Of The Birds But Scampers Around Gathering A Seed Here And There. I Really Don't Want To Kill It. It Is So Cute. Rich Even Likes To Watch It Now.

Aw! that's so nice of Rich making houses for the birds. Al is feeding the Oriols and Hummers at the front of the house. We have one squirril who goes up and tips up a feeder of necter and drinks it. We could not understand for a while why we were going through it so quickly. Just a squirril with a sweet tooth.

WE HAVE 3 FEEDERS UP FOR HUMMERS AND THEY STILL FIGHT OVER THEM THEY DIVE BOMB US ON THE PORCH .I FORGOT TO TELL YOU WE HAVE THE SWEETEST PAIR OF DOVES THAT ARE ON OUR FRONT PORCH ALL THE TIME AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. I CAUGHT THE TWO OF THEM SITTING ON THE ARM OF MY WICKER CHAIR. JUST SITTING THERE. THEN THEY WERE SITTING ON THE BANNISTER AND I WENT AND GOT THE MAIL AND THEY DIDN'T MOVE. THE OTHER DAY, THEY WERE WALKING ALL OVER THE FRONT PORCH AND UNDER THE PORCH GLIDER. I DON'T HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHY THEY ARE ON THE PORCH. RICH WAS SITTING ON A CHAIR ON THE PORCH AND TWICE IN ONE DAY THE CHIPPY CAME UP THE FRONT STAIRS AND WALKED AROUND THE PORCH AND JUMPED OFF THE END. I HAVE NEVER HAD THAT HAPPEN BEFORE EITHER.

Nature is so grand, I love all the antics of the birds and critters especially in the summer.
I miss seeing the chippies on a regular basis. We do have mice under the sun room at the back of the house and Jake our old cat will sit for hours in front of the hole just to the side of the back deck. Or Callie will listen at the foot of the stairs inside the house just beside my computer. We see little offerings they have left inside when the cats are asleep at night.
