WELL YESTERDAY I HAD 4 BUNNIES IN THE YARD AT ONE TIME. MY LITTLE CHIPPIE NEVER CAME BACK. I THINK A CAT OR SOMETHING GOT IT. IT HAD BECOME SO TAME. THIS OTHER ONE THAT COMES NOW IS A SCAREDY CAT. MY LITTLE "SKIPPY" FIELD MOUSE IS STILL SKIPPING AROUND THE FEEDER, PICKING UP SEEDS THAT THE BIRDS DROP. I DON'T LIKE MICE BUT THIS THING IS SO DARNED CUTE AND HAS ITS OWN PERSONALITY. EVEN RICH IS STARTING TO LIKE WATCHING IT. IT IS AFRAID OF THE BIRDS. THE SKUNKS HAVE BEEN LEAVING THEIR TELL TALE SIGNS BUT I HAVENT SEEN THEM. I DONT KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN WE FINISH THE FENCE WE ARE PUTTING ON THE ONE SIDE OF THE YARD. THE ONE SIDE HAS A FENCE BECAUSE OF THE POOL BUT NOW IT WILL BE ENCLOSED. THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR HAS BEEN EMPTY FOR 7 YEARS AND IF THE ELDERLY LADY THAT OWNS IT DIES AND CHILDREN MOVE IN NEXT DOOR, I WILL HAVE TO BE WORRIED ABOUT THE POOL. WE ARE AWAY ALOT ON CRAFT TRIPS. SO WE ARE PUTTING UP THE FENCE. I DON'T WAT TO DO IT AFTER PEOPLE MOVE IN BECAUSE IT WILL SEEM RUDE. THAT DOESNT MAKE FOR GOOD NEIGHBORS.

Sorry, to hear about little chippy. I'm trying to somewhat tame a few squirrels, but Austin thinks it's more fun to chase them off and yell "Squirrel! Squirrel!" Other than the squirrels, I have a few finches, my year-round cardinals and bluejays, hummers are slowly coming back south from their migration, one unusual bird... looks like an oriole, but it eats seeds and doesn't drink nectar or fruit. I can't find anything that looks like it online, and Austin keeps running it off when I get my camera to take a pic. Yeah, I've made him take an indoors time out for that (disobeying me when I tell him to leave the birds alone)... but one day his daddy overrode me, and I have given up.

The only birds Austin seems to actually like in the yard are those nasty grackles! I swear, I have like 30 of them in my yard alone every morning! But, will Austin chase those off???? Noooooooo. Only my pretty birds. I only wish I could understand what goes on in boys'/mens' minds!
