Default Blank emails??
Old 06-29-2003, 08:00 AM   #1 (permalink)

I have been getting blank emails from people I know personally, only they are not sending them. When I tried to forward one to my dh, it tried to open s: drive. What is the s: drive? And why am I getting blank emails in my junk mail addy? How do I trace the return path for these mailings? I used Yahoo mail. I quit using this particular addy, except for junk mail, because I was getting over 45 spammings a day in Chinese. I haven't seen any blank mailings in my new email, yet. Got any ideas? The s: drive thing is really confusing my dh... we don't even have an s: drive!

I have the feeling they may be hidden viruses, how can a blank message be 138k? I'm not opening anymore emails from ppl who used to be in that address book. I won't have an addy book in my new mail addy, just in case this happens again.

TIA!

Shelia

I have two suggestions--

One is to send them to your server and ask for help--giving them the same info that you gave me. If that is not possible (as you stated in your message) Go into TOOLS--then into MESSAGE RULES--click on MAIL--in the section #1 check all that apply--in section #2 check the box "Do not download from server"--in section #3 make any adjustment that apply. Hopefully this will prevent it from coming into your computer!!

Two is go into your top taskbar--click on TOOLS--then on OPTIONS--find SECURITY--(on Windows ME, there is an option to check that states " Warn me when other applications try to send as me"--your computer may have it worded different or may not have it--scan closely and see if there is anything that remotely looks like that statement then check it. Next go to READ--find the statement that closely resembles this one--"Mark messages read after displaying for __ seconds". Insert 60 in the blank and check it. This will prevent any messages from opening prematurely before you are ready thus giving you time to delete or forward them. This is great for ALL email you receive!!

If this was a normal email--I would tell you to check the "properties" on it to see where it is coming from--but that is running a huge risk that of getting a virus! So the best thing is to do the suggestions above or keep deleting them as fast as they come!!

Good Luck!
