Over the hill party

We are throwing an over the hill party for my mother in law on Friday night and I was wondering if anyone had any good decorating ideas. The cake is going to be a tombstone and of course we are getting black ballons and streamers. If you have any creative gift ideas we would welcome them too. Thanks!

Over the Hill birthday party ideas and games for

30th, 40th, 50th and 60th birthdays



Use parodies of growing older as party decorations:

Denture cleanser, toothless comb, granny shoes, grecian formula, baby food, cane, subscription to Modern Maturity, Geritol, Ex lax, Fiber, ect.

Make over the hill arm bands out of black material. Give them to guests as they arrive at the party.

Arrange for an on duty nurse to care for the quest of honor throughout the party

Use black as the central color scheme at your over the hill party

Place gag gifts at the center of a table with 2 black candles on each side.

Blow up black balloons and hang them from the ceiling.

Greet the guest of honor with a wheelchair.

Dress the guest of honor's spouse in black.



Turn your Over the Hill birthday party into a Roast



Provide a long banquet table to seat your guests, with a special spot in the middle for the roastee.

Rent of borrow a podium and allow each guest to stand up and relate a funny story, recall a nice memory, or tell an amusing anecdote about the guest of honor.

Hang up photos of the quest of honor from past to present, writing funny captions under each photo.

Ok I'll have to post my pic again - everyone else has already seen it. For my boyfriend's 50th birthday, someone bought him a "prune" bouquet.

We are going to make her a getting older servival kit. We even found a sample for Depends at Walmart. My sister in law and I are going to set her down and hand her the things one at a time and tell what they are for. We also found a ribbon that says " older the dirt" and I am going to hot glue a red carnation on to it and pin it on her when she gets there. Plus we got all the usual black decorations. We can't wait until Friday night it is going to be such a blast. I know all you mother in laws out there just love us daughter in laws, hehe. My dh turned 50 mid September and we had a family party. I had taken butcher paper 36in wide and 8 ft long and painted HONK..... Randy is 50! I put this and another one exactly like it on opposite sides of a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the side yard. Of course he had no idea (couldn't see it because it was in the side yard) why everyone was honking! He finally went and looked thinking something was in the road!!! It was great fun! Also had pictures of him from infant to present, marked How time flies when you're having fun!

I like the tube top idea, going to file that one away for when my younger sister turns 50!

I made my older brother a black flower bouguet with a black and white checked bow in a black vase. He got a good laugh out of it.
