Default garden party lights
Old 07-05-2002, 01:33 AM   #1 (permalink)

I had seen this in a magazine a last year...but have been unable to find a site for it...Hopefully I'll be able to describe these okay.

For this you need some small baby food jar...(yep, another use for them...lol), some window screen and some candles that will fit nicely in the jar. Oh yes some fine wire too and beads to jazz them up.

You cut some screen so it will come up over the top of jar..not too much higher though. Then you take some wire wrap it around the rim of jar to secure the screen in place. This is where you can add some beads to end of the wire and curl the ends....so the beads don't fall off. And that about it.

You can even add a loop of wire over the top so you can hang them around your garden. You can use different sized jars too...of course as long as they are glass....plastic just wouldn't be good...LOL!!

You can make a few with the different sizes for a center piece on your garden tables.....

Well hopefully I explained this so all have an idea of what to do...

For this you need outdoor christmas lights, but not the mini sets...the out big ones. Some soup cans....oh yes empty and cleaned, paint. I'm guessing you'd need patio paint for this. A nail and a hammer.

First you draw out your design on the can. Ones I've seen were done in Red, White, and Blue the designs they used were an outline of the flag and some stars. So after you have your design on the can you begin to carefully punch holes around the outline. Then you paint it in your choosen way.

You also make a hole in the top just so the end of thing that holds the light bulb will fit snugly through. Screw in the bulb and there you have it!

You can also use these to hold candles too. Well again I hope I explained this one so everyone can understand what I am talking about....
