Smile Any Tatters out there?
Old 06-07-2008, 03:42 PM   #1 (permalink)

I love trying new things and for a long time, have wanted to teach myself tatting. I have two shuttles and some needles to tat with as well . Are there any good books you can recommend me? Can I use Crochet thread, such as #10 or should it always be thinner, tatting thread? Any tips would be greatly appreciated as there are no classes in my area and none of my friends or family members are familiar with it at all.

Hi I have been tatting for about 10 yrs. I attend a craft group at our local church of which tatting is one of the crafts. There are some sites on the net where they teach you how to tat. I shuttle tat. Just type in tatting lessons in your search engine and you should find some. There are lots of free patterns on the net as well. I usually use # 20 or 30 thread but 10 is good to learn on and is more aviable. Good Luck
