Hi everyone -
Recently a friend showed me how to create some plant hangers using macrame. Well, that was it. I was hooked. Now I'm making shelves and clocks and hangers and spice racks....I love this stuff. But am wondering if it will actually sell at craft shows. Going to try it for the first time at a show I'm doing on Nov. 11.
I got hooked on many years ago and have been wanting to make some for my self. I have not seen too much of it around, but it could mak a comeback. I hope it does well for you, i did enjoy doing it before and if i got into it again i would not get my angels made.
Something you may want to try, and I'm sure it will be a big hit with the teens is the belts!! These aparently are back in style!!
I know I loved mine, many noons ago!! They should be able to fit throught the belt loop!! I would also make some of the wider ones too, as they can be worn over sweaters!!
I'll keep my eyes open for the vintage books on this subject!! I visit second hand shops and there is always so neat old craft books!!
Hi I still do macrame. I just did all new plant hangers for my front porch so they went with the new paint job on the house. I saw a 3 ft snowman at a show last week. I don't know if it sold though. People don't realize all the work involved. Another idea is to make macrame bracelets for the teens with beads on. My daughter did those and they sold very well to the college kids. Here is a thought.... Do you do ceramics? Make flower pots or buy terracotta pots and paint them with birdhouses whatever and make macrame hangers . You can call your booth "Knots and Pots"
LEAVE ROOM IN YOUR GARDEN FOR THE ANGELS TO DANCE.
You got me of in never never land looking at all the macrame sites i found in the yahoo search. Wow, i have a list of books and beads i want to order
Thank you all so much for your great input! My teenage daughters have already grabbed up the bracelets I made...guess I'll have to make some more and hide them for a show! I love the belt idea Patricia - going to try that one. Also, I have several hand painted terre cotta planters and now will combine the two.
Absolutely love the "Knots and Pots" name!
