| Deep Woods Off. Kinda smelly though. Hubby coats himself in it when changing irrigation water in the summer. Those buggers swarm all around him, but none land on him.
Tried the Avon Skin so Soft once a long time ago. Can't remember how well it worked. I know LOTS of people swear by it though. Might ask KarenW. I think she sells Avon.

| We use Off and it works for us! I haven't used the Avon stuff in a long time. I can't remember if it works or not either.
Has anyone tried the dryer sheets Bounce to see if that really works? I got an e-mail that said to rub it on yourself and put some in your belt loops and it keeps them away. :p | | | | | Junior Member Level up: 10%, 18 Points needed |

| The name of the bug spray from Avon is SSS Expedition (Aerosol is unscented, pump bottle has a slight pleasant scent and also water repellent) the price is $12, but you can get it on sale for $5.99. Deep Woods off contains deet which is known to cause cancer & should be avoided. Avon's expedition does not contain deet and is the only bug spray I know of that is safe to use on animals and you do not need to wash your hands or wash it off your body when you come in the house! Good Morning America featured the top recommended bug repellents - Avon was one of the most recommended. They said that it is the number one choice of the soldiers in Iraq. It is the only insect repellent that I use. It even keeps ticks of your dogs.
I have been selling Avon for several years and I have been experimenting with Skin So Soft Bath Oil. There are over 100 uses that customers and representatives have come up with, one of them has been found to repel bugs. You can use it in your bath or dilute with water and spray yourself directly. I have also had good results with diluting with water and spraying the grass prior to an event. This is also safe to use on animals. If you have any other questions on SSS or Expedition you can email me directly. | | | | | Junior Member Level up: 22%, 111 Points needed |

| The original SSS oil is useful against gnats, particularly the sand gnats that are in the coastal areas of SC, GA and FL. These particular gnats bite you, not just pester you like gnats in other areas of the country.
I have never felt that the original SSS oil worked against mosquitoes, but worked very well against those biting sand gnats.
I have not looked through an Avon book in a while so the Expedition is something I don't know about ( I sold Avon years ago).
My main concern with most commerical products is the deet and other chemicals. I prefer to go the natural route for myself and my family. There are several essential oils that work when combined with a carrier oil like almond oil. Health food stores normally carry organic/natural alternatives to the chemical laced products. | | | <>< | | Junior Member Level up: 10%, 57 Points needed |

| Let me explain about bug spray.........There are NO sprays that keep mosquitoes from bitting - sprays only make the wearer invisible to the bug. I was told this by Mosq. commission in town. They also said when they spray the marsh for mosq and other pests, they are not spacifically trying to kill them, they are spraying a chemical that stops the reproductive cycle of the pest.
I found that sss did not stop pests from bitting me and I didn't like the smell, however, my husband absolutly swears by sss. I still find that deet is the best. | | | | | Junior Member Level up: 7%, 20 Points needed |

| My family uses PURE VANILLA EXTRACT. This is the best thing to use just a little dab will do each part of your arm or leg. Do not use imitation it doesn't work. All my DS#1 sons friends use it now and some of them went to IRAQ. The skeeters hate the vanilla taste ad you smell like vanilla all day. | | | | |
