Lightbulb Spring
Old 03-22-2009, 01:39 AM   #1 (permalink)

Spring has arrived! I don't think Mother Nature can read though. She gave us some beautiful snow today. Of course, it will melt soon.

I am starting to think of preparing things for when I can get into the garden. It will be a while yet, because, we have huge areas of deep snow.

First, I need to check to make sure everything is in good working order. Dull needs sharpening, rusty needs cleaning, non starting needs the repair shop, and bad parts need to be replaced.

Quantities of fertilizer, peat etc. need to checked. Make a shopping list of the things we don't have enough of.

I also need to see if my gardening gloves etc. are in good shape. I seldom wear gloves, but if I do, they should have no holes, and start out clean.

When this is finished, I get to relax for a few weeks. The lawn will need to be raked first.

This all sounds like a plan to me.

I started raking my yard in sections. Gosh I picked up so much trash from over the winter that had blown in the yard. Yesterday rich and i put new landscape timbers around our garden. It is about 16 by 20 feet. I turned over a long section about 2 feet wide for his onions. We are trying to decide on some new things to grow with the economy so bad. Did anyone see on the news how many people are going to grow gardens this year to help their grocery budget.
