ever cooked with cilantro? What is it used in? My neighbor is growing it and thought it was just used for salsa. I read it is very strong and taste like soap if you use too much.

I have never used cilantro. It has a pungent taste and the seeds from it are called coriander. The two have very different flavors and cannot be substituted for each other.

Some of the cooking shows that I have watched, and are using cilantro, will mention that IF you like it you can use it. I assume a lot of people don't like it.

My husband grew up in Mexico, we have cilantro in the house a lot. Salsa is the most common place for it, but you can use it in a lot of places. Salads, on fish, in a marinade or even in soup. It is a strong flavor, so you either like it or not, there's no in between. You can use it anywhere you'd use parsley. But it will be the dominate flavor.
Have fun experimenting!

I use is sometimes, didn't know what you meant untille the post about the seeds came up. I only use it in small amounts since it really is very dominant but I don't think it tasts soapy.
