Short Pieces of Yarn...Help

I was given hundreds of short pieces of yarn (about 1.5 feet long each). I am wondering how I can make a scarf with all of these pieces. Do I tie them all together? Do I knit a row with each piece of yarn? I am a new knitter, so I apologize if this is an easy problem.

Well, since you're a knitter, I'm not sure. If you were a crocheter, I would say granny squares. Sorry I'm not much help.
