Default attern Needed for Beginner Socks
Old 01-08-2009, 04:07 PM   #1 (permalink)

I am wanting to learn to make socks. Especially since Michaels has their sock yarn on for 50% off. I have been trying to learn, but am having trouble. I can use DPNs or circular needles either one. I just need something easy for a beginning sock maker. LOL I have been knitting for about 3 years and am ready to tackle a sock or two. Hopefully a pair that match!

Thank you!
DebbieJ

This site has a good, easy beginner sock pattern:
Free Knitting Pattern For Easy Beginner Socks

If you need help with the instructions, feel free to pm me and I'll be happy to help. Until you've done it a couple times, turning the heel may seem a bit complicated to some knitters. But, it's not as hard as it looks, trust me.

I had already found this one. I took my MIL to her doc appt. today and then we went by Michaels to check out their sock yarn. I got about 12 skeins of sock yarn and a book of patterns. I also got two sets of #3 DPNs. I knit and crochet tight, so I have to go a size bigger to get the right gauge. The pattern book has beginner socks and intermediate ones. It also has some slipper patterns. One of the slipper patterns look like Mary Janes. They are so cute. But they are more advanced than I am, but in the future I want to try to make them.

Again, thank you for the site. Any and all help will be appreciated.
