INTERNET AUCTIONSA Board to ask questions about how to start, how to get help, tips, how to show your items and where an available auction site can be found.
I've noticed sales are down for me. I'm just not covering my monthly costs for the store anymore, so I think I'm going to close it down.
I might do auctions occasionally, just not have the store. I'll be moving some of my items over to the store shortly.
I pay $10 a month for my store for as many items as I want to put in there, whereas on e-bay for what I've got on there now, I'm paying over $30 a month. That's just too much.
I will be clearencing some items so be on the look out for them. eBay Store - Cupcake's Wagon: ATC, Crafts and Craft Supplies, Mineral Make-up
I Don't Do Ebay But It Sounds Pricey. If They Start Losing People They Will Find Out The Prices Are Too High. With Everything Else So High, You Want To Make Some Money Not Pay Out Huge Fees.
Hmmm, I was acturally thinking about starting something on ebay. Only because I don't know anything at all about some of the other sites I have seen. Guess its back to the drawing board. Anyone have any info on some of the other sites? I can read what the sites say but it is much better to get real life feedback.
I would like to comment on this topic...I am a NEWBIE, but I totally understand about ebay....I too am an ebay seller and they have outdone themselves this time...it is SAD....I am a stay-at-home-mom and I was making extra income there and I am still making some, but am really thinking about closing my store and just doing auctions for now....I am on a new business venture on the side that I will tell you about in a minute.....anyway the costs are going up and the sales are going down....I really love my ebay and I love making my scarpbook items and selling them I really do! I made alot of friends on ebay and a few of us had an idea to open up our OWN auction site that is MORE friendly and less expnsive...basically an ebay alternative....I did post my site in the appropriate place I hope....LOL....CRAFTERS COMMUNITY-CLASSIFIEDS---anyway we have each invested some money to get this up and going and we have our own little community and the auction site too...set up just like ebay and very friendly to USE....We have some incentives running right now since we are just getting started....you should stop by and take a peek if you can....we also have a neat feature that ebay DOES NOT HAVE...it is a FREE SWAP and it is really neat :0)
Thanks for letting me share.
Oh and one more thing I too have tried all the other places....etsy, google, and more with NO EVAIL :0(
Hi. I too left eBay! However, I left close to 2 months ago. I went from being a Power Seller to selling absolutely nothing within a 3 month period. I now have my own website for only $10.00 a month! Did you know that even if you don't have a basic store on eBay and you still list your items they charge you an extra $5.00 on top of your listing fees? You should definitely close your store. If you get a chance, go to eBay "neighborhood" section. eBay sellers are up in arms because eBay is going down hill and fast. With the economy now...no one is spending money. Don't waste your money on eBay.
So, right now I am just stocking my website store and will wait until the economy starts to turn around. Good Luck with you decision.

I just opened my own web store a few weeks ago. I spent months deciding what to do, sell on ebay, etsy, etc or start my own site. In the end it is cheaper and I have full control so I went with my own site. The only plus for ebay was that they are well known and always get traffic but the fees are just too high and you have to follow their rules and I think most people shopping on ebay are looking for a deal so will not pay as much. I'm very happy with my decision, granted I have to spend a good bit of time promoting and advertising but it's worth it. Ebay is going downhill fast!
Ive stopped shopping on ebay because too many people are being crazy with the shipping :(
I shop a lot on etsy.
As a seller tho I find that if you have your own site ( like I do, its a free site but I like it) you have to promote it like crazy and stay on top of it because the only wat to generate people going there is to advertise it ALOT lol
