| Here's another Ebay Spoof!!! I received this one today. The title of the message is
***FRAUD PREVENTION GROUP WARNING***
I've yet to receive the ones Cupcake and Patricia posted. This one today looked soooo much like an Ebay announcement. It had the Ebay logo across the top and the disclosures along the bottom but it wanted me to direct me to another URL, stating that they had "reason to believe" that my Ebay account had been "strongly compromised". There were some other suspicious remarks in the email and sent it on to Ebay.
I've had so many spoofs that I automatically send the posts to Ebay (or PayPal, whichever is applicable).
The BEST thing you can do is to NOT connect to the URL in these emails. If you do, it automatically alerts the frauds that your email address is valid and you will receive even MORE spoofs!
I don't know about accounts other than Earthlink, but if you have an Earthlink account and put a "block" on these spoofs, the system will automatically alert you if there is more than one e-mail address involved in the origination of the spoof. Any time you get two or more addresses, it is automatically a HUGE red flag that you have been "spoofed". |
